About Me
Guitarist Kevin Hollingsworth is well known to his colleagues and the public in "The Live Music Capital of the World", Austin, TX. In a town overflowing with guitarists, Kevin has been called upon by an unusually broad selection of artists for his spontaneous and intuitive playing. Being well versed in blues, rock, country and gospel has made him a valuable asset to such artists as Mandy Mercier, Leeann Atherton, Steve Tenpenny, Peter Dawson, Bob Rose, Mark Jungers, Karen Poston, Bruce Robison, Steve Power, Jesse "Guitar" Taylor, C.B. Stubblefield (Stubb), Van Wilks, James Cotton, Johnny Richardson, the legendary Shiva's Headband, The Iron City Soul Shakers, Michael Clay, The Dimestore Poets, South Austin Gospel Choir, Billy Joe and Eddy Shaver. While performing with some of these artists, Kevin opened for or shared the stage with the likes of Junior Brown, Eddy Raven, Clint Black, Gatemouth Brown, Johnny Clyde Copeland, Chris Youlden of Savoy Brown, Kevin Fowler, Cory Morrow, Pat Green, Sonny Landreth, Billy Joe Shaver, Dana Cooper, Bobby Keys of the Rolling Stones and Miranda Lambert. He is THE ultimate sideman who enjoys putting the right stuff in the pocket - the supreme challenge. Kevin is also an accomplished luthier who has toured with and/or built instruments for Dwight Yoakam, Tom Petty, various members of the Rolling Stones, the Faces and Bob Dylan. He also spent over 2 years hosting blues jams every Sunday and Monday in east Austin at the Black and Blues Club when it was less than upscale in the 1980's. He is the genuine article and loves to play acoustic, electric, rhythm, lead or slide guitars. His style has been described by fellow musicians as "deliberate and melodic", "searing", "intuitive and very musical", "spontaneous" and "well rounded-the guy for all jobs". "A bona fide tone nut" per the master, Eddy Shaver.
