Gotham Public Works first formed in 1999 after its two founding
members met at a costume contest and discovered how they each felt a special
connection to the characters they portray, and also shared a strong desire
to be much more than just people putting on a decent costume once or twice
a year.
Since then GPW has become and experienced far more than what
they felt they could realistically expect in the early days, and now their
plans and ambitions have grown accordingly as they continue to be excited
about what they can do next.
The group's resume consists of a variety of things from TV
appearances to modeling for noteworthy comic book artists, and they've received
accolades from the likes of Mark Hamill, Paul Dini, Billy West, Elijah Wood,
Greg Rucka and a healthy dose of other voice-over, film, and comic industry
professionals that the group has been fortunate and excited to meet.
Even more rewarding has been the actively positive reaction
from their fellow Batman fans. GPW's commitment to quality, detail-driven
custom costuming and accurate character portrayal has struck a chord with
what appears to be thousands of comic and cartoon fans. Knowing that so many
people across the globe approve so highly of what they do serves as wonderful
encouragement and makes their efforts feel beyond worthwhile.
Slowly but surely Gotham Public Works continues to painstakingly
add new characters to its roster, expanding their own piece of Gotham where
they get to become the very incarnations of the characters they love, for
themselves and for the countless people over the years who have responded
to seeing these characters come to life.
It's been a bizarre ride full of incredible joys, deep disappointments,
excitement, conflict, insanity, lots of fun, and even the occasional debauchery.
For all it brings, GPW's members remain overjoyed to have it be a part of
their lives, and for as long as they're able (which they hope is a pretty
long time) they'll continue to do what they can to bring Gotham to life.
