the history of ICON goes back into the year 1998. but the actual band with the adequate existing line-up was founded in december 2002, consisting of:THOMAS PICARD - vocals BERNHARD LORIG - guitar ROBERT WEIDIG - guitar DANIEL GLADEN - bass DOMENICO BOSCO - drumsthe musical direction was agreed upon very fast: death metal. as a source of inspiration, there are definitely bands like BOLT THROWER, OBITUARY and several scandinavian death / thrash bands to be mentioned.after some months of intense songwriting, the first show was played in july 2003. thereon many succesful regional and nationwide concerts followed; among these were two newcomer band battles, where ICON came of as winner. furthermore, the band is organising a mini-festival named "out of the ashes" every year.in november 2005, finally the first self-produced full length record "blindzone" was released, which is selling very well to this day and has received a lot of good reviews. the 8 songs were altogether written by the duo of bernhard lorig and robert weidig, some lyrics are by daniel gladen. in support of the album, ICON played, among others, a furious show with DISILLUSION.after the recording of the cd, the band didnt allow itself a break, but went on writing songs for the next record. with these songs, one can recognize, that ICON has moved forward musically a big step.until now, the songs can only be heard live on stage, because the band is collecting music for the next full length album. but: on stage, ICON is a force! the performance of singer thomas and the tightness of the band turns small and bigger venues into a boiling pot and everybody, including the band, has a lot of fun. be there!
