art and music- my art website: www.shawart.com my band website: www.polarisband.comI also enjoy history and old architecture.
I like to meet all kinds of nice people.
all kinds of stuff, though I'm not typically into rap, pop country, modern rock, or anything immediately popular or hip
if you haven't seen "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" then you don't know. I'm a working musician- studio and live. These guys MADE those old R and B songs. You'd be well told and do yourself a favor. You're welcome.
don't watch much T.V.- but I do like PBS- watched Charlie Rose last night and saw Lindsey Buckingham on Soundstage recently- AWESOME!
I love art related/art history books and have several, including "365 Takes, the Andy Warhol Museum Collection... terribly interesting! And also "500 Self Portraits", Phaidon, 2000 I use alot of self portraiture in my art, so... it's really revealing to me. HST's "Kingdom of Fear"- hilarious/frightening/liberating- and also "Hey Rube" by HST- funny shit! Just read "High Fidelity", 1995 Riverhead Books: I'm an opinionated audiophile, so... and I read "Night Train" by Martin Amis, 1997 Vintage Books, which will make you think about suicide in a whole new way. Also, check out my friend FuriousPoet's verse (on my Friends List). He's released a book of poems that might make you pee a little. I love a soul to search that's a soul searching. Oh, and my sister, Anne just had a piece published in Marlo Thomas' "the Right Words at the Right Time Vol. 2: Your Turn" Atria Books, 2006. Big Time! No.1 Best Seller, New York Times. She is finishing up a novel & currently shopping publishers for it with her agent.
People that are not hip and don't give a damn- trailblazers unconcerned about what they "might be missing", who are instead focused on what they doing. My folks. My brothers in my rock band Polaris, too- they are tough, real men!
