"CHOOSE LIFE" - It's important to realize that choosing to do nothing is in itself a choice

About Me

The Caribbean is heavily affected by HIV/AIDS; IT IS THE HARDEST HIT REGION IN THE WORLD OUTSIDE OF SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA. We believe that our communities would be greatly enhanced by the power of information: therefore, we are currently coordinating an awareness and prevention campaign - "CHOOSE LIFE". This campaign is necessary because statistics demonstrate that HIV/AIDS is on the rise and there is a wealth of resources and leadership to be tapped. The mission of our "CHOOSE LIFE" campaign is to partner with various HIV/AIDS programs to assist in mobilizing resources and coordinating outreach that will create a strong sense of self-worth and self-respect to help impressionable minds resist negative influences that may lead to engagement in risky behaviors. For more information, please visit www.janshaven.org

My Interests

Partnership with other organizations, corporations and philanthropist.

I'd like to meet:

People who can be extensions of our voice and help us to fulfill our duty of care by echoing our mission around the world. Our goal is to have frank HIV/AIDS discussions openly in homes, churches and schools that will eradicate the stigma and secrecy that only information can bring. The taboo of homosexuality and promiscuity are enormous obstacles to educating the community. There is still a lot of shame that comes along with this disease. AIDS is still a taboo in the Caribbean largely due to secrecy, the disinformation and blaming the "victims" of HIV/AIDS for the disease - there still exists the tendency to assume that a person who has been infected must have done something wrong.
