I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a former rock and movie critic for the San Jose Metro now living in sunny Apopka Florida with my wife Doreen, my son Jacob, three dogs and assorted other critters that get into the house when we're not careful. I attended Chaminade Prep HS in what is now West Hills, CA and Loyola Marymount University in what has always been Westchester, CA (OK, Los Angeles -- right by the durn airport) and I still watch a lot of movies and listen to a lot of music. From time to time I write reviews, when the mood strikes me. Aak me nicely and I might send you some.

My Interests

Indie Pop, Progressive Rock, Movies, San Jose Sharks hockey, travel, good food, good friends, good wine (occasionally all of the above at once).

I'd like to meet:

Interesting people. Celebrities don't particularly interest me.

Music:

I'm an Emusic junkie; it's the best download service in the whole dang world.

Movies:

I like movies with lots and lots of Eye Candy. I also like movies with lots and lots of depth.

Television:

San Jose Sharks hockey games, Lost, Heroes, Torchwood, Amazing Race, A plethora of reality shows, Star Trek (and later incarnations), Supernatural, Reaper, probably others that escape me at the moment.

Books:

Stephen King, JRR Tolkein, Terry Goodkind, Mitch Albom, Amy Tan, Weis & Hickman, Katherine Kurtz, Melanie Rawn, Robert Parker, Sue Grafton...see television.

Heroes:

People who make a difference. People who put others above themselves. People with good manners. People who don't care what other people think.

My Blog

Relationship Maintenance

I keep meaning to post new blogs more often, but I find that I get involved in so many other things that I sometimes just don't have the time. A weird thing to say for somebody who is not working righ...

Catching Up

Happy Friday to all, and to those who work weekends, you need to get a better job, bra. Doreen and I went out to the Enzian last night and saw Young@Heart, a documentary about a chorus made up of seni...

What is this mess?

What is it with us? Do we have a "Kick Me" sign embossed on our foreheads? Case in point. Our Air Conditioning system went down. We'd had it replaced five years ago not long after we moved into our h...

Priorities

There are some certainties in life, but very few. Even the land changes its appearance over time - wind and rain and earthquakes and sinkholes. One of the few certainties is that every day, once finis...

Monday, Monday

Well, the hockey season is officially over for the Sharks. Once again, they've been eliminated in the second round after six games. I'm no expert, but I'd be surprised if there weren't some fairly dra...

Got a Bad Case of the Fridays

It always seems to happen once every week on the same day. You get a case of the Fridays. You know what I mean; an increased checking of the clock while at work or school; a feeling of anxiousness as ...

Tuesday Afternoon

It's me again. How are you? Hope it's all going okay for you as the weather begins to get warmer. If it is, that makes me happy. If it isn't, I'm sorry...what can I do to make things better? Oh yeah, ...

Weekend is here - thank GAWD!

G'day, and to all my Australian friends, G'day. Other than the Sharks win in the first round of the playoffs, pretty uneventful week. My beloved Team Teal begins the second round tonight at home again...
