About Me

The Think Tank can now be heard on the air @ KAOS 89.3 FM--Olympia, WA--every Sunday from 10 am-noon PT! (Can also be heard online, same time, here .) History of The Think Tank: The Think Tank debuted on KAOS in October of 2001. From that time through April 2005, the show aired Monday mornings from 10 am-noon. In May 2005, The Think Tank moved to a new time-slot of Monday evening from 6-8 pm. Almost a year and a half later -- in September 2006 -- it moved yet again, to Thursdays from 9-11 pm. Finally, in March of 2007, the show moved once again to its current Sunday morning time. It's good to be back in a 10-noon slot, and this time we plan to stay there! The Think Tank is programmed and hosted by Tammy Tillinghast. Approximately once per month, Merwyn Haskett comes in to take over hosting duties and bring the show a different edge. The Think Tank can be classified very broadly as a "singer-songwriter" show, but it's definitely an eclectic program! Predominantly we feature independent pop -- but with a liberal sprinkling of rock, folk, country and all points in between. Live guests and phone interviews are always welcome on the show; previous guests include Buddy Miller, Phil Keaggy, Terry Scott Taylor, Kate Campbell, Michael Zapruder, Ray's Vast Basement, Paula Frazer, The High Strung, and actor Kevin Corrigan. If you would like to appear on the show, please feel free to send us a message here.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Listeners, people who like our music, stand-up comedians with CDs (possibly to be played on the show) and other artists who want to be played on the Think Tank.
If you are a band or artist, though, please be aware that you won't necessarily be added to this profile if you send a blind request. It doesn't make much sense to have you on our friends list if you're never going to be played on the show! If you're a friend of somebody we trust -- or if you have already been played on the show -- most likely we will add you. Otherwise, get in touch with us and send a CD! We'd love to include you if we think you'll fit (and if you don't quite fit on The Think Tank, there are plenty of shows on KAOS where you will).

Music:

Singer-songwriter, power pop, smart pop, Britpop, L.A. underground, sixties, seventies, new, old, folk, antifolk, indie rock, alt-country, Norwegian, Celtic, punk, blues, jazzy, soulful, literate, Olycentric, independent, sometimes not-so-independent, music that can't be classified.

Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Jon Brion, Ray Davies, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, Elliott Smith, Tim Buckley, Paul Simon, Dusty Springfield, Karen Carpenter, Kristian Hoffman, Todd Rundgren, Phil Ochs, Terry S. Taylor, T Bone Burnett, Mark Heard.
