I like restoring, customizing and driving older cars, mainly, the old aircooled Volkswagen classics.
I have a '67 Karmann Ghia which is currently awaiting an engine overhaul. I had to park her due to a burnt valve, but I'm going to upgrade the heads to professionally ported 40 X 37.5mm valve units, match-ported to 2 sets of manifolds, one for the 42 DCNF Berg Specials, and the other set for my Dellorto 45 DRLAs. I'm also going to install a K7 cam, and 1.45 rockers while I've got the engine apart. I'm going to break the piggy bank and get one of the Berg's 1-1/2" merged heaterbox headers to get the exhaust side to match the intake mods.
Damn, I can't wait!
I like the newer VWs too, as long as they are not "riced-out." Anyone can make a car perform, and without making it look like (_!_) !
I recently picked up an '86 GTI for my daily driver/commuter. I've got a few plans for appearance and performance mods, but I'm going to keep it on the low-budget side, I need this car rollin' while I save the cash for the Ghia and the truck. I recently replaced the original "held on by zip-ties" grill with one from a later Jetta (3 rib vs. 7 rib), and repainted the GTI red line around the grill. Now I just need to find a way to put the GTI badge back on the grill... I've already installed the Neuspeed short shift kit and front upper strut tower bar, which made a huge difference, and gotten a set of 15" Ronals that are now straighted, ust need repainting before they get new rubber and installed. I installed a K&N filter, and removed the airbox silencer "elbow" that goes into the fender, and installed a aircooled VW hose from the airbox to just below the bumper for colder air. I just picked up a factory dual-outlet exhaust manifold, and the dual-downpipe section from a guy on craigslist. Now to replace the factory two-muffler exhaust with a single Dynomax Super Turbo muffler (I've already removed the factory resonator muffler). I'll probably get another head and have it massaged and install a cam with a better torque curve after the truck is done, there is a lifter that makes some noise when it's cold. The GTI handles pretty good up in the hills, but the Ghia is still better. The coolest thing about the GTI is the fuel economy, I'm getting between 28-32 MPG and she's no slouch for acceleration! I recently drove to Monterey and back averaging 65 MPH and used less than half the tank! This is what she'll look like when I'm finished... Click on the picture for a larger image!
I'm selling my '70 GMC SWB Fleetside , I have no time to finish the project. This truck has been with the family for as long as I can remember, it's hard, but I gotta move onto other things, and I need the money more than another vehicle.
This truck is a California "native," Built in Fremont. I got the truck from my dad, who bought it in the mid 70's. When the head gasket blew, it had nearly 300K miles without any major engine work. In fact, other than the valve cover gasket being replaced, the engine had never been opened up!
I also own a '74 Vespa 90 that I have just installed new wiring and a new 130cc Polini kitted ET3 engine with Ducati electronic ignition. I got the scoot back recently, holy crap, what a f'n kick in the pants! That thing boogies! I'm really going to watch it when it's wet...
This is my sunny day rec-ride.
I hang out at Starbucks on El Camino & Lawrence Expressway in Sunnyvale just about every night... I've got pretty diverse group of friends that I chill with, check it out if your in the area! I hardly go to bars anymore, but when I do Paul & Harvey's in DT Sunnyvale, Mission Ale House in DT San Jose, or the Britannia Arms on Almaden Expressway in San Jose. I used to go to the Saddle Rack up in Fremont some Saturday nights too, you may see me there on the rare occasion... check out my profile pics for some shots from a few of the nights I've gone out there with my friends. You may recognize some of them from my Friends list .
I'm a proud member of P.E.T.A. - People Eating Tasty Animals. Want to see an interesting little video on the other P. e .T.A. (the freaks), check this out... A little warning, adult language used... Pet owners that support them, should watch this. Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with anyone who chooses to not eat meat or any animal based product, I just get really annoyed with those that try to ram their opinions and practices down my throat. I have no beef with them, if they won't have some beef with me.
I have a myriad of other interests, from hiking/camping to R/C cars. Of course, there are also some things I'm not into, sports being one of them. I'd have to be really bored to sit down and watch any kind of game on TV. Just some of my likes and dislikes... wanna know more, send me a message, not a friend request.

Comedy rates at the top with me, followed by Romantic Comedies, and then Dramas. Then comes SciFi, and Horror / Suspense... Here's a list of the movies that I own, alphabetically...
Here are my Animated, Anime, or CG movies:
That's all I've got right now, there might be a few, like Akira, that I didn't have pics of the covers, I'll have to scan those and post them later... Most I have on DVD, and the rest are on VHS.
I watch TV on occasion, but I have a hard time keeping up with a single show all season... There is always something more interesting to do outside of the house! I would like to have cable though, I would like watching the History and Discovery channels. Anything informative and mentally stimulating catches my attention... I like cramming as much info as I can into my brain, heheh ß;^)
Encyclopedia; Dictionary; Class texts; Reference books/manuals; PDFs.
I read about half the books in the Dragonlance series, about 20 something books... they belonged to my ex.
I also like Tony Hillerman's books based on the fictional characters of Joe Leaphorn & Jim Chee of the Navajo Tribal Police. I have A Thief of Time, Talking God, Sacred Clowns, and The Dark Wind, the one that intrigued me into reading these very well written murder mysteries. I'd like to get all of his works. I believe two, maybe three, of his books have been made into movies that have been shown on PBS.
Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Leprechauns, Wile E. Coyote, The person who invented "Daisy Dukes", The cops that RUB pepper spray in the eyes of animal rights activists (freaks...), Firemen, Our men and women in the Armed Forces. My parents, who tried their best to raise me like them, but oh well... heheh ß;^]»
