Creative Shit...
Funny Shit...
...and a little poop.
...my Maker.
I hate these fukkin' questions......
Having spent a big chunk of my life working in record stores, being in bands and being exposed to an eccentric mix of cultures, cliques & crazy people - my musical interests are piqued more by the content & feel than they are by the brand or style........
I'm a sucker for sarcastic & angst-fueled types-o-tunes, rug-chug guitars, cowbells, and anything that will make me laugh. I love strange, extreme or comical recordings - mostly by artists not intending to be so.
Weened on 80's punk , hardcore & speedmetal...
Jumped into grunge and sludge...
Dabbled in industrial/ techno/death/noise...
Got lost in jive & blues...
Rediscovered Rock N Roll...
Delved into rap...
...and somehow I still ended up looking like a goth chick...
Beats me...
More specifically, I'm a die-hard Monster Magnet fan and dig the likes of QOTSA & Kyuss. The latest additions to my circle have been Mindless Self Indulgence and THE Mars Volta.
I still feel that some of the best bands were never "discovered" or are now long gone. I still play old demo tapes and recordings from friends or (then) local bands. I haven't had a functioning turntable in 8 years but I still have my vinyl!
Here in SD, I've enjoyed some BORN TONIGHT shows & parties.
My little website www.EyeRawk.com features some pics of the Born Tonight Hella Huge House Parties (3HP's) as well as my adventures in ass-grabbin' and other random crap. Feel free to check it out.
Shakes The Clown, SICK, Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2, Blue Velvet, Clockwork Orange, Naked Lunch, HATED, Gummo, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, Fear & Loathing ...etc.
Cheesy Troma gore, disturbing white trash, subliminal comedy, drug-riddled excess.... I love 'em all
Eh...when I watch it's usually cartoonz; Metapocalypse, Moral Orel, Drawn Together, Family Guy, South Park...
or I watch documentaries and crime shows...
The last I read were: Indecent:How I Make It & Fake It as a Girl for Hire, The Teachings of Don Carlos, Obsession: FBI Profiling of Serial Killers, The Tribe of the Tiger: Understanding Your Cat, Sex Work: Writings by Women in the Sex Industry, and The Shamans Body.
I don't believe I have heroes...but I do have many people that have influenced, affected and expanded my mind along the way. I would be so uncool without them!
