Port Harcourt, Lagos, Sevilla, Barcelona, the cities where I found and grew my musical inspiration. From motherland Africa to old Europe, I picked a lot on my way and in both continents. An exodus under feelings of hardship and hope, suffering and smiling Mr Fela would say. This made me conscious and brought me closer to my deep roots, closer to the beats that really make sense to me. I left aside the first passion of my life -football- which really drove me abroad and I used as much as I could the sport teachings to persevere with the new profession that had chosen me and to keep learning from every one around. The music of masters like Fela Kuti, Majek Fashek, Lucky Dube, Peter Tosh, Ini Kamoze, Luciano, Culture, Sanchez, Beres Hammond, Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, Bushman blew me away from start and gave me the will and confidence to spread out my own musical wings. In Spain I happened to work with many local singers and djs, who helped widen up my musical repertory. I also had the chance to meet a bunch of African and Jamaican artistes, who strengthened me in my musical project. I put together my first album "Diobu Boy" in 2007, which is a true reflection of what music means to me, a mirror of myself and of the world surrounding me, a mix of many styles and experiments. The highest reward I got was the launching of the album in my home town, Port Harcourt, and throughout Nigeria and the warm welcome it was given. My next goal is to extend this enthusiasm outside the borders of my native land. So watch out...
