Bees are dying off, and nobody seems to know why. 'Colony Collapse Disorder' they say, but that's just name calling to pretend what's happening is known. It's like telling someone who's dying that they have 'dying'.

A recent study estimated bees' annual economic value at $14.6 billion. If American bees had their own country, their GDP would exceed that of a third of the nations of the world.

Richard Axel and Linda Buck recently won a Nobel Prize for their research on the olfactory senses' relationship with memory. They showed how a family of 1,000 genes gives rise to 1,000 different types of olfactory receptors, which let your nose and brain recognize and remember 10,000 different smells. I, personally, would like to give everyone I know 10,000 smells to remember me by.
