Who We Are:
BASS (The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society) has been the local shelter for the communities of Butler, Bloomingdale, Pompton Lakes, Riverdale, Ringwood and Wanaque for over 10 years. We have a dedicated staff, all of whom are committed to finding loving homes for the animals in our care. BASS takes in stray, abandoned and owner surrendered pets and works very hard to place them in new and loving homes. Animals that have been impounded as a result of cruely or neglect come to BASS as well and we spend many, many hours giving them the love and comfort they deserve. All of our animals have passed a health and temperament check. We are proud of our success rate and look forward to many great things.
BASS DOES NOT RECEIVE ANY MONEY FROM THE SIX TOWNS WE SERVE. We survive mainly on donations and membership support. Please help support us so that our work can continue. Thank you.
Foster Homes:
Have room in your home and in your heart? If so, provide temporary care for cats and/or dogs. Help socialize them and get them ready for new homes. Provide a safe haven for animals with litters or treatable illnesses.

If you wish to adopt an animal, come to the Shelter or go to our website and complete an adoption application. There is a processing period to allow us time to consider the application, check references, and obtain your landlord's approval (if applicable). This waiting period also allows you time to thoroughly consider the responsibilities of pet ownership, and it allows you the time to purchase the necessary pet supplies that will be needed to properly care for your new pet.
After you have submitted your adoption application, Animal Services staff will notify you within 48 hours of your application status (approved or denied).

Directions:
The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter is located in Passaic County, near the Butler/Bloomingdale exit off Route 287 (Exit 53). After taking the exit, make a left at the light. Brandt Lane is the first right after the Riverdale Bridge, about 1 mile down the Hamburg Turnpike. Be careful though! Brandt Lane is a SHARP right - you'd better make a u-turn at the Gulf Station and catch it from the opposite direction. See you there!
