About Me

In Memorial
Lieutenant Israel Murray Rothblatt
May 26th, 1934 - December 22, 2008
The New Jersey SPCA has lost one of its own. Lt. Murray Rothblatt was a dedicated and caring Humane Police Officer whose selfless service protected countless animals in New Jersey from needless suffering. He will be missed.
The New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals advocates for the animals of New Jersey by advancing their welfare, promoting their interests, and fostering the human-animal bond through programs, education, and service. The New Jersey SPCA is committed to:
Providing shelter and temporary refuge to those animals who are homeless or are in need of respite from cruelty and neglect; Finding forever families for adoptable animals; Promoting and supporting positions that have a positive impact on the quality of life for animals; Reuniting lost pets and their owners; Eliminating overpopulation of animals through aggressive spaying/ neutering and education; Educating the public regarding responsible pet ownership and respect for animal life; Securing basic medical services for animals in need; Reducing cruelty through stronger ordinances, investigations, partnerships, and education.
The New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was created in 1868. Its agents were established as Law Enforcement Officers in charge of investigating and prosecuting all persons involved in Animal abuse and neglect. Our mission today is the same.
