My Interests

meeting new people, art.. and there is art in many things: jewelry, fashion, music, fragrance, even making intelligent conversation can be an art. It's akin to flirting but harder. I love learning new things! reading, having martinis and dinner with my friends. Just hitting the road to LA or the OC ( it's how I get info for my blog LA Story for Fashiontribes.com) I love to learn about different fashion lines. I know a TON about denim. I love to dress up. I think it's fun. I DO NOT OWN that boutique you see in the photo. I am just the model for a photo shoot. I WISH I had clothes in those bags but it's just tissue..

I'd like to meet:

**People in the fashion and beauty business on both sides-- meaning both writers/editors as well as designers** musicians and people involved in the music industry because I cover that too-- indie music primarily but not exclusively** people who I have worked with and/or talked to long distance (PR and you know who you are)** people I have interviewed but not metOtherwise specifically but in no relevant order-- Kiefer Sutherland Keaton Simons who I already know Josh Kelley-- met but don't know James Morrison- interviewed but not met the KIN because they are just so d*** interesting

Music:

I love music. I play piano but not lately. (I need more refresher lessons. I was working on jazzy bluesy stuff before. It keeps calling to me) People ask me who I am listening to: Cary Brothers (yes his EP and I bought it.) Jim Bianco (ditto.. and it's just like him as a person. Look out for the three podcasts Sara Barielles AM.. I have both ep and cd and love them. Love the new stuff he just did at Hotel Cafe. Look out for the blog on that. Keaton Simons------ amazing. All I can say is I love what he does with lyrics.. and his voice. James Morrison.. Only heard 4 tunes.. I love the feel of the blue-eyed soul (though I don't think he has blue eyes).. Michelle and the Midnight Blues. Whoever said White Girls Can't Sing the blues? SHE CAN -- and I connect with her music Fall Out Boys (why them? Because despite the rock & roll, they are very intelligent in their lyrics. I don't know if they have lived those type of events, but I certainly have. OMG.. I find them just plain fun yet so in touch with what's gone on in my life), Rachael Yamagata Chemical Brothers Joshua Radin, Josh Groban--select songs only. I understand some songs in other languages so I listen to those and there are about 3-4 key songs that I listen to The American Rag Store Series --YUM-- love the samba Houston Person (thank you JB for that rec), Jane Monheit, More of the Hotel Cafe Crowd but I have to buy more CDs, Want a great place to go to hear music? Check out the Hotel Cafe. Not at all what you would expect but a very cool place. LOVED it.!!Love salsa, Latin music. Anything that makes me move.. I like some of Shakira and other kinds of music. If you see me out and about -- I will be the one moving around-- even if I am sitting down. I love to dance. Been into dance music-- anything that makes me move and there's a lot of that out there right now-- but it has to have a certain groove. Also I love intelligent lyrics-- songs that actually make some sense. I love jazzy threads and I love classical piano. The experience of great new music for me is akin to surfing (catching a humongous wave and riding it in) or doing something new for the first time and doing it right. It's an emotional rush along with the physical that pierces your very soul. I have very eclectic tastes and I make sure that I have a great variety of music cds in my car.. from BIG & RICH to all of the above. So sue me..

Movies:

National Treasure, Matrix 1-3, Sci-fi, some dramas like Pursuit of Happyness, Buckaroo Banzai and the 8th Dimension. Star Wars, Star Trek, 007.. LOVE LOVE LOVE Daniel Craig. (he's yummy) Action flicks and intelligent comedy. I like Antonio Banderas.. I like lots of people--JUDI DENCH is INCREDIBLE.. ditto Helen Mirren I watch a lot of DVDS.

Television:

24!!!!!!!!!!!! ROCKS my world. I watch the dvds back to back. It's the only way for me. CSI Miami (it's filmed near where I live), Crossing Jordan, House, Grey's Anatomy, Veronica Mars, Nip/Tuck there's more but what can I say?

Books:

how much time do you have? Love art books-- I get engrossed in architecture, paintings, furniture.. I love decorative art but I also like art that speaks to me of things that I haven't seen. Love history books and historical fiction-- particularly in decades I have studied. I have one book written. A couple more in my mind that are totally different genre. Since I started writing here and posting more of my blogs I have been creating something that's different in terms of my writing. Also been working on the theme/framework of a book that's both part of me and not of this world.

Heroes:

those who have overcome great obstacles without a lot of fanfare or self pity but have helped encourage others and made time to be there for others while still trying to walk that mile. I know people like that-- they inspire me.
