Arkham is DEAD

About Me

Arkham are like the last of the mighty buffalo (or bison) left roaming the dwindling plains of the new century’s musical landscape. Left out to pasture after the summer of last year Arkham took a year off from their grueling trek of baptizing the soulless masses to write and record their newest opus for delivery to the rock n’ rock converted. Like the Vegas hallucination of melting walls and lounging lizards experienced by Rauol Duke, “The Freak Power Candidate” incorporates unconventional recording methods that take the listener on a Hunter S. Thompson-esq trip. Recorded on a shoe string budget over a month and a half “The Freak Power Candidate” takes a decidedly low-fi tone compared to their previous effort, “Mahkra” which was produced by Alex Newport and recorded when the band had only been together for a mere six months. By taking a year off from all things associated with the music industry, the band was able to seclude themselves from everything that can derail a potentially great album, such as touring, record labels, lawyers, and managers. Locked up in their practice space, Arkham wrote handfuls of songs scrutinizing every part in order to achieve the exact sound and tone they wanted for their record. The result, “The Freak Power Candidate”, an intelligent heavy album that challenges the short attention spanned to slow down and digest the musical stew brewing in their stereos. Emerging from the studio just in time to begin their roam on this year’s Van’s Warped Tour, Arkham is set to once again return to their journey of converting the pop masses into their rock brethren.
Unlike most bands, Arkham does not like to talk about itself. Arkham likes to write new and interesting music and play live shows. Arkham does not enjoy taking press photos, or talking about where they are from (Orange County, CA) or their influences. Arkham has recorded with Alex Newport (at the drive-in, melvins, fudge tunnel, theory of ruin), and they speak very highly of the experience. They recorded on tape and did not use computers, which is kind of cool. Arkham is proud of their live show, and lots of other people seem to enjoy it, although they can not provide any names to prove this statement. The only way to describe Arkham’s music is with adjectives. They have two singers, two guitar players, one bass player and one drummer, but only four band members. They often discuss pirates, monkeys and ninjas, but not all at once, because the idea of a pirate ninja monkey is kinda confusing.arkham would like to thank: the bailey family, the pena family, the burwick family, the norman family, the hirschman family, the steez family, the draper family, reid sheldon, immegart, gardner, remy, alex "chumley" newport, mike troolines, swifty, britney, mitchblade, nobreggers, groat, scrhappy, lob, jeff at vinyl solution, mike at the distillery, troy, wooly, ethan, fake mitch, erika records, mariko jones, blake enriquez, mike hill, the pasadenians, mike barfy, johnny orbit, all of the floors that we slept on, shayna, be rad, jeremy carson, dan, brendan murphy, jimmy johnson, dylan the droadie, derek r, the paugh family, scott fletcher, scott bradford, nick bogardus, beardo, fife family, talky mccellphone, the hatfield family, the mcfersons, vaux, places to park, death by stereo, the color turning, flammable, thrice, thursday, time in malta, asg, rise against, the third degree, rosewater foundation, obsolete heart, blondewood, miramar, innaway, the manifolds, the carolina super babies, the arrogants, seance, twilight transmission, mad mad moon, the fever, guttermouth, vendetta red, ride the boogie, the barking spiders, the front, arraya, the caffiends, the mesa theatre, the detroit police, the huntington beach police, the wichita police, etc.
