Even before their affiliation with Wu-Tang, Shabazz and Razah first started out together as The M.A.D. M.O.B. Along with other Red Hook friends and artists, the group did shows all around NYC, filmed their own videos and received radio play on a few stations. Later, founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan RZA heard Shabazz's demo and immediately wanted to sign him and The M.A.D. M.O.B. While waiting for their label deal to finalize, Shabazz and Razah formed a new group with Killah Priest, Prodigal Sunn, Supreme and 7th Ambassador and became The Sunz Of Man. It was also during that time that the world first heard the amazing Shabazz The Disciple when he did the opening verse on the Gravediggaz classic Diary of a Madman. He then Released the 2 Singles and videos Death Be The Penalty and Crime Saga on Penalty Records, Both of Them earning him critical street acclaim.
After some delays due mainly to label complications, Hell Razah and the Sunz of Man released their first group album. Released in 1998, The Last Shall Be First became one of the most successful Wu-Tang affiliate releases, debuting at 20 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and 7 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The group gathered a huge following and was able to release numerous other projects that were successful even without heavy promotion. Later in the nineties, Lamont Dorrell, better known as Ayatollah began to get notice as up and coming producer. He first received main-stream recognition after producing Rawkus rapper Mos Def's hit Ms Fat Booty, the first single off his Black on Both Sides album; whilst subsequently receiving a gold plaque for probably his most well-known track to date. He then work with some of hip hop's finest artists such as Styles P, Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah and Inspectah Deck, Cormega, Guru, Saigon, Masta Ace, Tragedy Khadafi, Sean Price, R.A. The Rugged Man, Pharoahe Monch, Talib Kweli and many others.
He has also released three instrumental albums, 2003 unofficial debut So Many Reasons to Rhyme and 2006 Listen, on Nomadic Wax and Now Playing on Nature Sounds. Since his days with Wu-Tang, Shabazz The Disciple has been touring the world and recording with artists from all over the planet. He released two underground albums, The Book Of Shabazz: Hidden Scrollz and The Passion Of The Hood Christ CD/DVD while remaining one of the most anticipated artist in hip hop. Hell Razah started off his solo career in 2001 with the release of the underground album When All Hell Breaks Loose. He followed the effort with a collaborative album with producer 4th Disciple called Freedom of Speech. Then, as a member of the Black Market Militia along with Killah Priest, Tragedy Khadafi, Timbo King and William Cooper, the group released a self-titled album in 2005. The album was critically acclaimed for its strong political message. Last year, Razah kept himself busy with two releases. First was Renaissance Child on Nature Sounds.
Once again, the album was well received and featured artists such as Talib Kweli, MF Doom and Ras Kass. He quickly followed with a collaborative album with production team Blue Sky Black Death called Razah's Ladder on Babygrande Records. This year marks the reunion of underground legends Shabazz The Disciple and Hell Razah for their first joint-release in their illustrious careers. It will also be the first time that highly respected producer Ayatollah will release an album entirely produced by him featuring artists on his beats. Wingz Up!
