My Interests

Music:

Band Website: karalanger.com
Band Members: Kara Langer (vocals, keys) Luke Grgas (guitar) RC Richmond (bgvs, percussion)
Influences: Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah McLaughlin, Dave Brubek, artists who are not world famous like Sarah Siskind. I wish I could write like Hem, Brian McKnight, James Taylor or Glenn Phillips. I listen to alot of classical music, R&B and unknowns. I wish I could front a band like the Yah, yah, yah's... Lately it's been Bruce Cockburn, Josh Rouse, Blue Merle, Beth Orton, Outkast, Bob Scheider, John Legend, Landon Pigg and there's been a new revival of anything Ben Gibbard in my life. Anytime I feel the slightest bit in love, it's all about Pete Yorn and Leona Naess.November 2006: Fell in love with Tom Petty and Lovedrug. Still want to marry Josh Rouse. December 2006: new love= Between The Trees. Thank you, TM. May 2007: I've been immersing myself in the music of Shawn Culvin and Paul Simon and been making time to appreciate country music on a daily basis. Thank the Lord for Keith Urban... A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down...
Sounds Like: I get alot of Sarah McLaughlin, Norah Jones, Tom Waits and Fiona Apple.
Record Label: Yes, please.
Type of Label: None

The Frames, The Frames

I, late driving home the other night and listening to a live performance on Lightning 100, was struck and could barely compose myself at the sounds I was hearing.  "Falling Slowly" by The Frames....

I have some dang beautiful friends

So, I was "making the rounds" here on Myspace and glanced at my top 8 and had to do a double take.  Do you all realize how beautiful (and handsome) you are?  Not kidding.  Now to make s...

Back to Earth

I go through periods of time when I live in the sky. In those times, most of what I do is based on a fantasy and I put my energy into something I don't really have but want: love, ...

Sleep tight, Tower Records

I took the long way to JJ's last night so I could drive up West End and pay my final regards to Tower Records.  I riffled through the picked-over, unorganized bins of the Rock / Pop section, all ...

Isaiah and the Landfill

I live on a hill.  At the bottom of the hill is a beautiful brick wall.  Behind the wall is a giant compacting dumpster for all the tenants to dump their waste.    There is...
