About Me

The state of Hip-Hop is in disarray, and is looking for that person that is going to restore true artistry back to the art form. Ladies and gentlemen, I present that person to you. . . Bry'Nt. Bry'Nt is coming to bring what the Hip-Hop community is lacking, diversity. With his new album, "Porn Star," he plans to take the music industry by storm! Being a Black man, that lives an alternative lifestyle, Bry'Nt is hoping to change the way the Hip-Hop community views our world, and bring to light issues that are affecting us all day-to-day.

Bry'Nt grew an early interest in music growing up in Hartford, CT, and from this interest grew a passion. He found a way to express himself when his mother bought him a karaoke machine at 8 years old in which he used to record his early material. At 14, he and a friend started a rap duo called 3rd Degree where Bry'Nt took the name Step-Child. He remembers using the karaoke machine to record their music as if it was a real studio. Although he was extremely expressive with his music, Bry'Nt was not comfortable with his sexuality at this point in his life. His sexuality remained a secret from his family, his friends, his group, and most importantly, his mother.

Bry'Nt struggled accepting his sexuality, and acting out negatively was the only way he found fit to express it. It was at age 15 that Bry'Nt came to accept his sexuality, and this is where his music took a turn of events. Since 3rd Degree was no longer in effect, Bry'Nt felt obligated to be more truthful about his life in his music, and became comfortable with doing so. Bry'Nt felt the images of the homosexual lifestyle in Hip-Hop music were poor, and he wanted to portray a realistic one. With that he felt he needed to make music that was more "rainbow-friendly," (a pun he developed to describe his style of music). When asked about his opinion of the state of Hip-Hop, he responded, "Everyone's a gangsta and a thug! Who are the gangsta's really? There are already [closeted] gay rappers in Hip-Hop; they just don't talk about it." Bry'Nt feels that a rapper's sexuality shouldn't define them, or put them in a separate category musically. "Hip-Hop is Hip-Hop!" He is looking to send a message, and give his peers something they can all listen and relate to. "Porn Star" is Bry'Nt's gift to the Hip-Hop community. It's raw, different, and most of all SHOCKING. But on the upside, there are many positive notes on the album. Bry'Nt is trying to break down stereotypes and barriers that would hinder individuals from gaining the respect they deserve. He realizes it'll be a process, but he knows that with his music he'll be able to knock down some doors! Be on the look-out for Bry'Nt's music! Get ready for the hottest homo in the game!

Influences:
[In Alphabetical Order]
Foxy Brown - I've always loved how Fox punches her words when she raps, her delivery on songs is always fire. The clarity and intensity are constantly present in her rhymes.
Jay-Z - Every song this man raps on is saturated with the most thought provoking metaphors and similes. Many of the things he says, you can't figure them out until later, you'll sit there and be like "Oh shit! That's what he meant!"
[The Original] Junior M.A.F.I.A. - I loved this group for their classic ability to combine catchy, hardcore rhymes with timeless beats.
The Lost Boyz - Freaky Tah, Mr. Cheeks, Pretty Lou, and Spiggy brought a lot of fun into Hip-Hop music that I admired. They created true to life songs while making music that was exciting to listen to. Not only that but Freaky Tah and Mr. Cheeks have two of the most distinct voices and deliveries in Hip-Hop.
Nas - One of my favorites when it comes to story-telling. His ability to tell a story in an interesting way is very rare and a gift to the Rap game.
Mobb Deep - Prodigy and Havoc are two of the most raw and edgy men I've ever heard in Rap music. Their music is hypnotic but unfiltered.
The Notorious B.I.G. - Big's delivery and punchlines always had an affect on my own raps. His flow has stuck with me since I was young. His voice is powerful and he was a machine of endless rhymes! Many of his songs are timeless to me. I loved him for that.
Tupac Shakur - Unfortunately, I didn't become a fan of Tupac until he passed. But he once said something that touched my heart. He said that all he ever wanted was to be an angel for God, but since he couldn't be that, he decided to rap. Enough said.
Other Influences - Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey, DMX, Missy Elliott, Lil' Wayne, Madonna, Methodman & Redman, Outkast, Swizz Beatz, TLC, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams.
I am a big fan of these artists. Therefore, I try to include elements from each that have made them successful into my own music. With that I've created a style of my own that is unique but a homage to them as well.
Sounds Like: "Bry'Nt's predominant message in his music is self-respect, as well as the pain caused by a sexual double life."
