My name is Dickie Wood and I am a singer/songwriter from Mechanicsville, VA. I am lead singer and guitarist for the alt-country band The Atkinsons. We’ve been together since the Fall of 2003 and have been playing out regularly in Richmond area venues and at many great festivals and events. We consider our style to be americana or roots rock...basically we play rock songs with a twang. We like to concentrate on our original music, but we do a fair share of cool cover songs too.
We released our debut CD entitled "American Gothic" in 2007 and have received some great reviews and support. Check us out on the web!

Another music project I am involved with is the newly formed red-dirt style rock band named Workhorse Blue. We concentrate mainly on covers by Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, and Chris Knight (just to name a few). Eventually I’m sure we’ll start writing originals, but for now we’re just having a blast playing the songs we like to listen to. The kicker is that I’m the bass player. I never played bass in a band before, so it’s very cool to be doing something that’s new to me.
