In the studio this week are The B Film Extras . These guys may look familiar. They're former members of the DC area band The Miles. John Lawlor and Clint Herring decided to part and continue writing and recording. They called on me to produce and record a soon to be released EP. You can check out some of this new material on their page. March 25, 08 Richmond native turned Atlanta resident Rap artist JASON continues to get great press on his latest full length "Born to Motivate, Raised to Succeed". Recorded and Mixed by me last year. The latest is an interview with online magazine Juniors Cave. Check out that interview here March 16,08 Thanks to Jay Smack and Studio B at 102.1theX in Richmond for having Brice Woodall on the show, playing the tunes and promoting the upcoming show at Toads Place. If you didn't get a chance to tune into the show you can check it out here March 15,2008: Tons of stuff going on here that I need to talk about. First off Brice Woodall and the Positrons are just getting back from London. We spent a total of seven days which included four shows. The most worthwhile of course being Abbey Road. We were invited by Ted Kelly of Worldspace, XM ch.29 UPOP. After doing an in-studio with Ted back in the Spring of last year he invited us to take part of this years event. The entire week was incredible but being in Studio 2 at Abbey Road was the most memorable in my life to date. I've never been in a place and felt such a vibe before. Just knowing that you're breathing and making music in the same space that Lennon and McCartney wrote and recorded so many songs. Unbelievable. Thanks Ted and Thanks Worldspace. While in the UK we also took a trip north to Liverpool to play "the most famous club in the world" the Cavern Club. Although not the original stage that the Beatles made famous it was still amazing. Liverpool was an outrageous town full of good times and great beer. We drank pints and sat in the same booth as Beatles and so many others at The Famous Grapes next door to the Cavern. Made famous as the musicians "hang" since the Cavern didn't serve alcohol apparently. Lots of great photos decorate this old pub. And speaking of photos we were very lucky to have our friend Brittany Diliberto along for the trip as our photographer. Over the week she was able to compile over 1500 photos. Can't thank her enough. Check out the Brice Woodall in London and Liverpool photos here: Brice Woodall and the Positrons UK If you missed the Abbey Road Sessions on XM UPOP Ch. 29 when it aired originally you can listen here to the show in its entirety:
A few months ago my friends Jon Lawlor and Clint Herring of the Miles were involved in the 48hour film festival at VCU. Yes, not only do they write great songs they can produce video as well. Take a look at their submission to the 48 hour film festival. It's called Patent Pending. Enjoy!

Aug. 10, 07 A couple of projects going on here at the same time. Jim Ivins of the band Busted Wire is in working on a full length solo project. Jim's wearing all the hats on this one. Playing drums, guitars, bass, keys and singing. Only thing left for me to do was turn knobs and tell him "no, do it again" . Also in working on a full length is Zach Birnbaum of Richmond. Zachs record will be a mix of full band cuts as well as some tracks of just acoustic guitar and vocals. Joining on this project is my friend/drummer Gregg Brooks. You know Gregg from the band River CIty High. Look for both these records in the next couple weeks.
July 27, 07 So...I just got back from Las Vegas for round two of rehearsals with my latest project. I'm currently playing bass behind singer/songwriter Robert Flieschman ( link below). In case the name doesn't sound familiar Robert was the original singer for the band Journey. Heard of them? Robert fronted the band for a couple of years before managers butted heads and Steve Perry's manager won. Robert stayed in the music biz but later took a break from performing to work as a writer for a publishing company. Last year Robert got the itch to Rock n Roll again so he recorded a new album and now, hopefully we'll get the oppurtunity to tour the country and perform those songs. Joining me in the backing band are Richmonders Andre Labelle (drums) and Rich Stine (guitar). Stay tuned for more.
June 1, 07 Just finished mixing the new full length from Richmond singer-songwriter Kristin Ford. The record "Torn" is available now in local stores and online. Check her link below for more details. Produced by my friend Rich Stine (Elevator to Space/Fighting Gravity) Kristin has branched from the previous folk sound and gone in a more Pop direction. Good songs, Great recording, It was fun to be part of the project. Get a copy.
Below is a video produced by my friend Trevor Bittenger. Trevor was the original drummer for BWP (Brice Woodall Project) Together with Brice we were a band for several years. During that time we released the EP "Awkward". From that ep the title track Awkward went on to win Honorable Mention in the 2002 John Lennon song-writing contest. Trevor now lives in Brooklyn NY and works as a graphic artist and creates videos as a side project. This video is for Brice Woodall's "Sinking into Rashamon" from the disc Feathery Trigger. Click on Trevo below to check out more of his work.

June 19, 07 At the Stars is currently looking for a new bass player. I'm going to be leaving the band for at least a couple months. If you dig the stuff and would want to fill in for me on the low end duties please contact them. If you're interested come out to the Pour House on July 7th and see the band live. Thanks! June 18,07Brice Woodall and the Positrons shows this week in Northern VA, Philly and University of Maryland campus. Check Brices schedule for these show times and places. Next week, Saturday JUNE 30th here in Richmond at the Lucky Buddha. We've got new songs, new arrangements and new clothes.I got a new hair cut. Come out and support!! Have you bought a copy of "Feathery Trigger" yet. What the hell are you waiting for? Be that cool person who's friends are always turning to for cool new music. June 8,07 This past week I had the oppurtunity to work at Dragonfly East studio in Haymarket VA. My friend Scott asked me come up and spend the week working with the band Reliant. The band Reliant is based in Strasburg and play locally. Look for their 5 song EP soon. May 1, 07 Work has started on the next release from Roundtable Entertainment. Conflict has been in the booth for the past couple of weekends and mixing should begin in the next couple of weeks. From what I've been told JASON's record will be back from duplication sometime this month. June 12, 07 At the Stars Ep October, November, December is HERE!! Check the bands page below to listen and get your copy. The Brice Woodall tour was a total success. Once again Richmond being the strongest show. The Lucky Buddha proved to be an excellent venue and will probably be home to us for future shows. We started of the week by visiting Worldspace Satelite Radio in NW DC. Worldspace is also known as UPOP or Ch.29 on the XM dial. Brice, Josh and myself did an in-studio performance of three songs and Brice did a solo version of "A day in the Life" The PD of the station enjoyed the performance so much that he has invited us to participate in their annual event in February which is held at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London. Details to come. In the meantime if you're on the XM dial tune in to UPOP ch. 29 and listen for the track Redwoods from the record "Feathery Trigger. The Freezer is my home studio. The set-up is digital. Pro-Tools is the software. But my preference is using as much analog gear on front end and during mix as possible. My system is able to record 16 tracks at a time and mix up to 64. So if you’re shopping for a comfortable spot with reasonable rates to do your next record give me a shout.
