We are 5 people creative group from Ukraine. We are running
art-book project and offering artist from all over the world to participate. The novel Fantaisie Impromptu written by young ukrainian literary experimentalist Sasha Shagi is going to be published soon. It is dedicated to the people’s losses and wins. Artpieces of international artists painted on the main idea of the novel will be the part of the publication. The best paintings will be presented on the exhibition in Ukraine. We are looking for painters, illustrators, designers, art-innovators,
and artistic people in general to participate in international project. We ask you to draw your sparrow!

About Sparrows
The House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a member of the Old World sparrow family Passeridae. It is one of the most well-known birds living in residential areas and is and widely recognized both by its appearance and its characteristic chirping. An ancient English parable says that dead people’s souls reincarnate in sparrows.
About Piano
There is a house. Big or small. In the middle of rye fields or near a shop in a village. In the center of integral city or on a desert island. In Paris or Kiev, Miami or New York. In the middle of the house – the piano. Songs are played on it by notable composers, casual passers-by. Some play beautifully, and some have no idea where to begin. In those black-and-white keys expectations (the most valuable thing in the house is abstract) are put, expectations that are inexplicable with lexicon but understandable, nebulous things aimed at and concentrated on strategic desires.
If expectations are unrequited, they take off from the keys, through the windows and transmogrify into sparrows. There are lots of sparrows on a roof of this house. There are bad birds. There are good birds as well. Eventually, and possibly for the best, these expectations die.
About Novel
Sasha Shagi have spent the last 6 months working on his literary “art-imagination†project derived from psychological experiments conducted on himself and those around him. He’s using his findings to create the art-book for to those who already have lost or will lose.
For Creators
To participate, create the art piece on a theme «How My Objectives Have Not Been Realized». The composition has to be built on your own experience. All types of art works are welcomed. You could choose your own mood - characters could be sad, could be ridiculous. It is all depends on your attitude – are you glad that you’ve lost; from loss have you, on the contrary, won?
The medium is unimportant: oil, pencil, watercolor, design layout, photo installation. However, the presence of a sparrow is a must as the symbol of your loss or gain.
The Details
1. The size of painting is unimportant. Please make a note that the size of the art-book is about 14x21 cm. But still you could create both vertical and horizontal image.
2. Deadline is 15th May 2008
3. Include a cover letter with your name/ pen name, age, country, and a brief history of the piece.
