About Me
Amanda was born in 1946 in Hong Kong from an English/French father who served for the French army in Indochina and an Asian/Russian mother, Amanda was raised in the South of France and in Switzerland. In addition to two mother languages ( French and English ) she also speaks German, Spanish and Italian. Amanda's SRS in the early 1960's was performed at Dr. Georges Burou's clinic in Casablanca, Morocco. At the age of 16 she went to Paris to study painting, then in 1964 to the famous St Martins School in London. During this time she started modeling for Catherine Harlé, head of the famous European model agency and became friends with Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones.In 1965 she returned to Paris to model for Paco Rabanne and Yves St Laurent. During this stay she met Salvador Dali who wanted her as a model. She became one of Dali's closest friends.In 1973 Bryan Ferry asked her to pose for the cover of his record album "For Your Pleasure". and joined the English band Roxy Music as a backing singer. In 1974 Amanda was one of the many transsexuals in David Bowie's love life and in his stage act "Ziggy". She performed in Bowie's "Midnight Special" shown on NBC in 1974.In 1975 she signed with Strum production and released her 1st single on UK record label Creole Records. "Trouble" a cover of the Elvis Presley song. Her first album "I Am A Photograph", stayed 33 weeks in the German charts.In April of 1979 she married Alain Philippe Malagnac.In 1981 she returned to exhibiting her own paintings, doing several European exhibitions a year. While she was staying in hospital because of car accident, she wrote a book "The Immortal". In 1988 she recorded with italian rock band "CCCP" and filmed concert for Italian TV in San Remo.In 1992 she made a french TV film "A woman For Me" and appeared in the popular French show "The Big Heads" and her shows "Beware of the Blondes" and "PEEP" in Germany. Today she much of her time at her home (which was designed by Salvador Dali) in Provence in the south of FranceOn December 17, 2000 a terrible thing happened, her house in southern France burnt down. But most tragic was the loss of her husband, Alain-Philippe Malagnac d'Argens and friend, Didier Dieufis, in the fire.
