Viscosity is a death/thrash metal band that hails from the surrounding suburbs of Chicago, IL. The band has been going strong now since the summer of 2000 and have been in a state of progression ever since.
In 2000, shortly after composing their first couple songs, Viscosity decided to record a self-released demo for their loyal garage band fans out there. The reaction was intense, so after playing a bunch of garage shows, the guys went back to recording in hopes of achieving the optimum replication of their sound heard live.
In 2002, after numerous previous self-released demos had been produced, the band felt it was time to try a real studio and set foot to record at Soto Sound Studio. It was their first studio experience, and with only a $200 budget and 5 hours of recording time, they managed to pull off a decent sounding demo.
Early 2004 arrived, and after two years of promoting their previous studio release, Viscosity realized that their sound had evolved in those past two years into a faster, tighter, and thrashier version of their previous selves. It was time to return to the studio. After weeks of contemplation, the guys decided on Studio Chicago, and recorded a self-titled 6 track EP. It was the start of something bigger than they had before. It had got them radio play time on Loyola's WLUW Sound of the Fury(www.uraniummusic.com/sotf), a full out 2 hour metal station every monday night. Shows increased, and so did the fans. Viscosity was on their way.
2005 was a year of many more shows. As the guys got older, it opened them up to playing more shows down in the city of Chicago in bars and other venues that wouldn't allow them before due to age restrictions. It was also a huge milestone in song writing for them. Their sound was now solidifed, and their style was quite under way. Word of mouth was getting their name out to more people than they realized. As the year came to an end, they felt it was time to release a full-length album. Without the help of any managers or record labels, Viscosity had survived this long on their own, and wanted to repay their fans by releasing an album of all their new songs that showd their full potential. They teamed up with Jason Walsh at Farview Recording in December, and the album production was under way.
By January 2006, after just one short week in December of recording, Viscosity's first full-length album entitled "Hour of Reckoning" was completed. Now with a solid album under their belts, Viscosity plans to take on the metal world full throttle. 2006 shows great promise for these 4 musicians of metal.
