The Dillinger Escape Plan. The Dillinger Four. -Two bands who have found a connection to John. Johnny Murder and the 25 to life.
John was shot while coming out of the biograph theater in Chicago. The movie playing that night was "Manhattan Melodrama" staring Clark Gable. It is a gangster flick, in which apparently the star reflects on his life just before being taken to the electric chair. It is said that John sat in the theater for a while after the show, possibly contemplating his own choices in life. The film has not been released on DVD as of yet but you might still be able to find it somewhere on VHS.
The History Channel had a great documentary on John, Bonnie and Clyde, Machine Gun Kelly, and Baby FAce Nelson. It's called "18 Months of Mayhem".
The best biography I have seen so far is; John Dillinger: The Life and Death of America's First Celebrity Criminal by: Dary Matera. I am very excited to read, Dillinger the Hidden Truth by Tony Stewart.
John's hero was Jesse James.
