My Name is Anne Mayes Rutledge and I was born on January 7, 1813 near Henderson Kentucky to Mary and James Rutledge. In total my parents had ten children!!Between 1826 and 1829 my dad moved us all to New Salem, Illinois. New Salem was a pretty little village but unfortunately it never amounted to very much because it was full of drunks. I managed to hook up with a New Yorker named James MacNamar and we got engaged. Unfortunately the bastard abandoned me and went back to New York State. The douchebag never even bothered to write a decent letter for 2 or 3 years. Totally left me wondering WTF was going on. Creep. Now I am usually a pretty sweet, cheerful and happy kind of gal but the whole situation with Macnamar/McNeil or whatever the fuck he was calling himself made me pretty miserable for awhile. It wasn’t all that long before I turned my attention to the tall, lanky, brilliant boarder at my folk’s tavern who seemed to be something of a kindred spirit. His name was Abraham Lincoln. Was I really Abraham’s first love or were we just best buddies? Were we engaged? Did he never recover from my early death of Typhoid ( we called it brain) fever in 1835? I’ll never tell. I’m too afraid of Mary Todd. I will never talk about the time Abe, Billy Greene, and I snuck off into the woods together. I'll definitely never talk about what really went on behind Offut's store either. New Salem could be a little R rated at times. That's about it.

My Interests

Abe Lincoln and President Andy Jackson. Personally I am pretty partial to President Jackson but Abe is a "Henry Clay man". Whatever.

I'd like to meet:

Abraham Lincoln. Other dead historical figures. Anyone who has an affinity for the early/mid- 19th century. People with a sick sense of humour. I love these people who are into the whole reincarnation thing. That is kind of cool.People who believe that underneath those stern faces and layers of ridiculous, restrictive clothing that folks from the 19th century were actually very rock and roll. Come on..you know it's true.

Music:

Guns and Roses (so bummed that they weren't around in my day). Fleetwood Mac Beatles Coldplay Muse Radiohead Metallica Sugababes Stereophonics Travis AEROSMITHEver hear of the Missouri Harmony?

Movies:

I am really looking forward to the Spielberg Lincoln film in 2009!! I hope they get Angelina Jolie to play the part of me and a dead mule carcass to play Mary Lincoln. Yes, I am INSANELY jealous. LOL.Awww what do you mean that film mostly covers the White House years!! Arggggggghhhhh.

Television:

Days of Our Lives. It reminds me so much of life in mid 19th century New Salem. I am sure that is where they took the name of "Salem" from. But really, who the hell needs TV when you have Jack Kelso with a bottle of whisky in one hand and a book of Robert Burns poetry in the other.

Books:

Anything by William Herndon, Ward Hill Lamon, or anyone else who pissed off Robert Todd Lincoln.Oh yeah and Tom Clancy.

Heroes:

Abraham Lincoln/ William Herndon/ Mentor Graham/ Bowling Green/ Jack Kelso/President "I killed the bank" Jackson. If girls were allowed to vote in my day, he would have had mine.

Whitest Kids U' Know: Abe Lincoln

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4Uf9rsBbhc It's coarse. It's rude. I love it. I think Mr. Lincoln might have found it funny too....
