Roger Waters.
"Well, I had no choice, did I? I'm a woman. Women are obliged to be far more skillful than men. You can ruin our reputation and our life with a few well-chosen words. So, of course, I had to invent, not only myself, but ways of escape no one has ever thought of before. And I've succeeded because I've always known I was born to dominate your sex and avenge my own."

Horror: The Nightmare on Elm Street series, The Exorcist, original Dawn of the Dead, Evil Dead, Thirteen Ghosts, Sleepwalkers, 28 Days Later, Aliens. Basically, if you show me something grotesque, evil or otherwise horrific, I will at least watch it once and probably like it. Unless it's a spastic, shuffling doofus in a hockey mask.
Sci-Fi/Fantasy: The Fly, Event Horizon, Star Wars (original trilogy only), The Lord of the Rings triology, Donnie Darko, A Clockwork Orange, Labyrinth, The Terminator series.
Drama/Action/Thrillers: American Psycho, American Beauty, The Color Purple, Full Metal Jacket, Sophie's Choice, Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club, The Rules of Attraction, Boogie Nights, Monster's Ball, Sling Blade, Gummo, American History X, Pulp Fiction
Comedy: Napoleon Dynamite, The Breakfast Club, Clerks I & II, Drop Dead Fred, UHF, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the Big Lebowski, Blast from the Past, the Birdcage, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz
Except for a scant, scant few shows, American TV truly is shit.
That said, among my favourite series are: Black Books, Bottom, That Mitchell & Webb Look, The Young Ones, Black Adder, etc.
Dexter is also great. I have a fondness - a shameful fondness - for a few reality shows, such as Hell's Kitchen, How Clean is Your House? (UK), Rock/Flavor of Love, etc. A bit hypocritical, since I believe that the reality show is effectively what's strangling any semblance of creativity in American programming.
- Alice Walker's "The Colour Purple"
- Bret Easton Ellis' "American Psycho"
- Boris Starling's "Messiah"
- The "Steal This Computer Book" series
- Chuck Palahniuk's "Choke"
And so on. . .
Just for one day.
