About Me

MySpace codes: CoolSpaceTricks.comBorn in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, 11/5/75 Taurus Alter ago- the 'Original Slacker'. Daynes' varied influences convey a somewhat free-spirited individual. In his own words 'I see life as a journey, meeting interesting people along the way.' In 1995 he co-formed an indie/rock band named Curl, & they played to acclaim in London, Liverpool, York etc plus performed on BBC Radio. Splitting in 2000, it was an unforseen turn of events which turned Mark's direction toward a solo career. When the band split, he was left adrift. A couple of moves around the country (college) resulted in three days drying out on Fistral beach Newquay. A borrowed ticket back to Grimsby then resulted in him recording the Rosary ep. Another move away- to the South Coast- saw more recordings and gigs. During his time with Curl, there was dissatisfaction with A&R (+ interest), & this experience keeps him wise in his search for a label.Mark writes about what he knows- people & places. His off-stage passive persona & fired-up, raw performances have left Mark's public overawed. An observer at a Sheffield gig merely stated 'I can't believe its the same guy on stage.'It remains to be seen whether or not music is ready for Daynes' sound, but to be honest, he probably doesn't care. And I can't blame him.To quote- 'In today's climate, fresh & new is pretty much changing from week to week- I'll just hang in there & be original.'ARTISTS PERFORMED WITH INCLUDE- CURL:- Captain Sensible (ex The Damned), The Dandys, The O, The Beekeepers, The Poppyheads, Fallacy, Magic Drive, Cuckoo...SOLO:- Anna Neale, Little Dipper (Rob Allen), Dee Boyle (ex Longpigs), Treebeard, David Goo, Beck Stacey...Demo releases- 'Rosary ep', 'Dreams Like Fire', & '13 Seasons'.
