ABOUT ME: From about age 17 I started collecting Reggae & Dub music but over the years expanded to the outer boundaries of bass driven music. I've worked professionally as a DJ in Sydney and abroad for 15 years. Depending on the venue and / or event, I may be dropping anything from up-front dancefloor breaks, fat funk, afro-beats, hip hop, dancehall reggae, jazzy latin & soul beats, electro-pop or any number of fusions across these styles...................................................... ..........................................................MY MIXING STYLE: I really like to explore versatility in the mix. The intention is to take listeners on a journey, as there is an unlimited amount of quality music available over many genres. Add to this the fact that today punters are more discerning, they've had more exposure to good sounds over 25 years of electronic dance music. The whole aim is to entertain, enlighten and expand knowledge while keeping a full dance-floor. Plus I love playing with scratches, effected scratches, FX in general, looping shit up on the fly, hitting tempo-based delays in conjunction with the transformer... basically reworking tunes live (to make it that little bit more special than the way it comes out of an iPod)....................................................... ............................................................ .PRODUCTION: I was the co-founder of Wicked Beat Sound System in 1991. After honing production skills, tracks were first released in 1995. To date they have released 4 albums, 6 singles, 18 remixes for other artists and have been nominated for 3 ARIA awards including the 2003 Best Dance Release Award for 'New Soul Breaks'. I parted ways with the crew a couple of years back. Now I'm working on 'Dubnosis' & special projects due for release sometime soon I hope........................................................ ................................................ENDORSEMENTS : Currently endorsed by Stanton Electronics for all DJ related items including the Final Scratch system. I use the FS2 Scratchamp along with Traktor 3.2 on my trusty Powerbook. I love this system because I can still play any new vinyl cuts I have while still accessing many thousands of great tunes that live on the hard drive. Combined with great TT's like the Stanton T-120C and the new Skratchmaster series cartridges, this gear is the bizzle! Thank You Stanton! ............................................................ ................................................FILM FESTIVALS: I have been very happy to be involved with Johnnie Broi (Canada & Oz) joining the Freeride Film Festival as musical director for the Extreme Sport Film Festival at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney...................................................... ..............................................HEADSTUFF: I'm also influenced by Nature, being the grand master of random chaos and something we are all a part of (even the bad things that happen could be called 'Nature'). On the flip side though, I'm also definitely affected by Architecture, Design & Fashion. They represent a different type of chaos which is creative and unlimited. In June '07 Crucial D & Regal represented Sydney beats & breaks at 'Nuggets' - a Barcelona institution for lovers of fine funk, soul, hip-hop & afro grooves - you shoulda seen the dancefloor!
