- A native of Connecticut (where? the little state bordering New York!), TJR grew up with a healthy balance of sports, music, and mail-box baseball. It wasn't until he went to college for golf in 1994 when he discovered underground dance music and DJing. He quickly became obsessed with the sound and the culture and not too soon after he put down the golf clubs and picked up a set of turntables. A couple years later he came across a mixtape that changed it all, Terry Mullan's "Live @ Equal". Things like track selection, programming, mixing different genres and most of all, scratching and acid house were heard mixed together flawlessly. Terry's style of skratch patterns flowed with the music which was something TJR never heard before. From that moment on, "Live @ Equal" never left the deck and was studied endlessly. Several years later he won a few DJ competitions, made it into the pages of URB and in 2000 he was picked up by the Chicago, IL booking agency JeLo Multimedia which gave him the opportunity to play events all over the US. Still to this day skratching, aggressive mixing techniques and all forms of funky pumpin house is the basis behind all of his sets.
- Producing was the inevitable next step and that all came to fruition in 2004 when midwest techno guru Paul Birken most patiently guided him through the basics of synthesis and the world of analog synths . In 2004, TJR purchased several pieces of gear and fell in love with analog equipment. His first goal was always to produce acid house which led to his acid cuts being picked up by Terry Mullan's "Catalyst Records", Paul Birken's "Tonewrecker", Aciiiieed and Tora Tora Tora. Also around this time is when the alias of Dave Taylor "Switch" started popping up with a sound called "fidget" house that unbeknownst to him, started a new movement. Around late 2006 TJR sold his trusty TB303 and became consumed with the sound of Fidget. Now is the present and things are looking very promising after having music released on labels such as Lee Mortimer's "Wearhouse Music", DJ Dan's "InStereo Recordings", and Donald Glaude's "DG Records". Lots more releases and remixes will be floating around soon!
