In the middle of the 90's, NoLeaf (aka Daniel Reis), already felt itself fascinated by some alternative eletronics projects, essentially downtempo, breaks and trip-hop, like Squarepusher, Red Snapper, Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, AIR, A Guy Called Gerald, Kruder & Dorfmeister and Lamb. It is in these circumstances that he discovers in 1998 the Grooverider's "Mysteries Of Funk", and the tune "Where's Jack The Ripper" it was love at first sight.
Few years later he started off promoting events in Lisbon with some friends, helping to grow nowadays most recognized promoter in Lisbon, Kalimodjo.
In the beginning of 2004 it has the first contact with djing, in July of this year appears for the first time in a flyer with Australians Pendulum, fifteen days later, in a party of trance in a bush in Setúbal (Transinsections).
In September NoLeaf leaves kalimodjo and went to London for studying, accepting however, when visits Lisbon, some invitations made by Kalimodjo for warm ups in their parties, like Optical or Baron.
In the worldwide capital of drum'n'bass NoLeaf contacts with a well distinct reality comparing with what it was accustomed to see, opening his mind, giving the first steps in production (just for recreation). In November of this year he plays for the first time in London, for 3000 people @ Addicitions Night after winning an open competition for amateur djs. Starts two residences, still in 2004 in one already extinct small club in Wembley, John's Kenton Club, and in 2005 @ the Jamm in Brixton, a recognized club in London's night, playing with Fricton, Silent Witness, Nicky Blackmarket and Calibre. Still in the same year he tries to give a push to the cult of old skool in Lisbon, making a old skool set in a party of Futurebeatz @ Club Lua.
Returning in definitive to Lisbon NoLeaf presents in December of 2006 (again in the Futurebeatz @ Club Lua) his innovative project in Portugal, drum'n'bass mashups with others styles, like rock, punk, electro, grunge, etc, trying to run away a little of the drum'n'bass's stigma in
Portugal. And in July of 2007 launches an old dream, the first site dedicated exclusively to the production of portuguese drum'n'bass (www.dnbpt.com).
Recently won the award of "Best Portuguese Music 2007" by "Cows On Patrol drum&bass Awards 2007", with the tune "Ready To Die".
