My Husband.
Singing. Teaching a bunch of MIDDLE SCHOOL kids (although, this is VERY STRESSFUL). SINGING in Cantate helps relieve that!
OH I love READING TOO...
I am not picky when it comes to the people I meet. I love meeting new people. It's exciting, almost like the feeling I get when I get a new cycle of students. Hee hee... Similar to the feeling of...OH, do you remember that feeling you got when you were a kid and you opened up a box of new crayons? Well, THAT'S IT really..Wait, I am wrong. I don't think I have the heart and patience to meet people who are superficial or racist and fail to see the beauty and worth of all God's children. *For those of you who know me... you know that I get along with EVERYONE AND ANYONE* Lately though, I've not had the will to even TRY to start a foundation of friendship with people who are plastic. Therein lies the ULTIMATE CHANGE in me.
OH OKAY here we go...
When it comes to singing I LOVE Choral music and Jazz. However, when it comes to listening to music I profess to be a lover of music. With that being said it opens up the doors to EVERY SINGLE GENRE OF MUSIC. From CLASSICAL TO HEAVY METAL and beyond. To name only one particular genre would be a little hypocritical wouldn't it?
When I was riding the bus in high school, I was the only girl to have a mixed tape (Yeah yeah I said TAPE and not CD sheesh.. dating myself aren't I?) of Debussy, Bach , Pachebel Canon in D mixed in with Metallica, Faith no More, Enya, Santana, Chicago, Eagles, and Steely Dan. *wink*
I LOVE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!
I have to give some RECOGNITION to a few of my favorites though:
TWO WEEKS NOTICE : Richie, Mike, Cedric, Brian, Mario, Vince, and Doug (formerly)
MONISKAT 7: Jason, Juan, John, Jimi, Jeff, Mike, Dawn
SIRENU:Marc, Bert, Andrew, Logan
FUSION : Mitch, AC, DeeMo, Atlas
RoMZ Tha ILLAMNTL
SIKMIND
Maseha: Rich, Bert, Marc, Davey, Logan
The Color Purple, Harry Potter, Goonies, The Never Ending Story, Princess Bride, SpaceBalls, The Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, The Lord of the Rings, CrashI love drama, romantic comedy, some action, some thriller, NEVER EVER horror (I'm much too much of a scaredy cat), I love movies that come from books, science fiction, fantasy...I find emotional situations in most movies I watch. Let me put it this way, I cried during The Lord of the Rings... I READ IT... I KNEW the story... BUT I cried anyway... POOR GANDALF!u
Grey's Anatomy, Charmed, Gilmore Girls, Ugly Betty, Heroes...
My favorite authors are Judith McNaught, Johanna Lindsey, Julie Garwood, Diana Gabaldon, and Jude Deveraux. If you know your authors you'll notice that these are all Romance novelists. I get so much grief for that... sheesh... there's nothing like a predictable, happy ending story for a really stressful day. I do like an occasional brain enhancing, thought provoking, can-not-put-it-down-or-stop-reading-or-you-will-lose-your-mi nd book... books like The Lord of the Rings... Once in a while. CURRENTLY: Harry Potter book 7
Chamoru's are of a Matrilineal society. My hero, therefore, is naturally a woman. More specifically though, she's my grandmother. Dolores Untalan Pangelinan was an extremely strong woman.
During WWII, despite being threatened with death and punched 18 times on the face, she held onto the notion that her love for her beau, my grandfather, was stronger. In 1944, she and my grandfather were secretly married by a priest under the cover of darkness.
She raised 7 loving and headstrong children. She raised some of her grandchildren as well, me included.
After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the doctors gave her 6 months to live. She fought back and lasted 9 years!
In 1994, despite being bedridden for many years, my grandmother finally had her church wedding. She rode into mass dressed in a beautiful cream colored island style wedding dress and golden ballerina slippers on a decorated hospital gurney. I have never seen so many people at one celebration.
She was an amazing woman. I am privileged to have known her for as long as I did. I love you mama!
