LADY ANNBorn Barbara Smith the second child of Verona Dacres, Born ina Jubilee and lived in Kingston 13. Lady Ann started her career around 1978 doing her first recording for Don Mais (Roots Tradition Label) [(Plan u family)with Toyan] and (shine eye boy). In 1980 Leon Symoie invited her to record a couple of songs for the (Trill seekers Label) which cumulative in the album (Vanity) and the release of (Satap). Lady Ann teamed up in 1981 with Black Beard to record Husband and Wife on the (Mr Tipsy Label) Between 1981-82 Lady Ann enjoyed her biggest success with the Joe Gibbs Produced (Informer) this song stormed up the local charts and swing her career into high gear. This led to her touring Canada,United States, and Cayman.With the success came the release of the album (Informer) Joe Gibbs Records.The pinnacle of of her career came when she was named the first female DJ of the year (1983). After enjoying these success she continued to record for the cream of the cream of Jamaica's Producers Notable: Studio 1 records, Jah Thomas, Taxi, Volcano, Striker Lee ,Jah Life and shocking Vibes. In this millinum Lady Ann is still a force to reckon with as a female DJ and can still hold her own with any of the present Female Djs.She is still sought out for shows and her killa dub plate of her biggest song (INFORMER)
