The Sinking Spells, hailing from Salem, MA, are devoted to 3 ideas: evolution, emotion, and intensity. The founding of the Sinking Spells, in the spring of 2005 by (bass/vocals) Phil Magnus and (vocals/guitar) Robb Buckley, saw the demo recording of Sirens. This was used to recruit drummer Tom Pardi that September. In January 2006, they began bringing their live show all over the north east, playing all over from Boston to Atlantic City which was followed up with a CD release entitled EP the following April. Due to an inability to tour, Tom left and was replaced by Neil DeRosa in October of 2006. The band immediately began work on their follow up CD, The Devil At My Side (released March 07) showing a much more introspective side of the band compared to their first release. Following a successful CD release show at one of the Boston area's most reputable clubs, the Middle East, the band did a brief northeast tour to promote the new disc.
In the spirit of bands like Jawbreaker, the Clash, and the Misfits, the Sinking Spells feel it's of utmost importance to bring material recorded in a meticulous fashion into a dynamic and explosive live show. The live shows consist of emotionally charged, high energy performances of songs inspired by the members' personal lives, relationships, short-comings, luciferian philosophies, and the somber landscape and history of their New England home.
The summer and fall of 2007 will see the band embarking on a tour of the midwest and the southeast.
