About Me

Shaky Trade - it's a way of life. This groundbreaking sound comes out of the dreary confines of Ogden, Utah. Growing up, the boys who would form Shaky Trade soon discovered the only way to beat the "I live in the asshole of Utah, the armpit of America" blues was to play them, funk stylee. Which led them to craft a style the likes of which had never been seen. New school funk mixed with old school soul. Moronic rock mixed with thought-provoking-or-are-they lyrics. A veritable potpourri of flows, hot licks, and stops injected with enough finger lickin' goodness to make you come back for seconds and thirds. Catch Shaky around the Ogden and SLC club scene and forget, if only for a fleeting instant, that you do indeed still live in Utah. Or catch them on MySpace any day o' the week. Either way, drop us a comment and let us know what you think!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: shakytrade.com
Band Members: Billy Bommer - adding the sax love and bringing the vocals steeped in Ogden soul to the table.Chris Clemons - blowing the horn and adding some vocal harmony sauce when need be.Simon Crompton - creeps in with the subtle Strat magic that can only be summed up in one word - tasty. Try it, you'll like it!Greg Shaw - the rock upon which the Trade is built, his fat bottom end infects booties all along the Wasatch front.Michael Wong - lays down the ever so groovin' grooves, connecting Point A to Point B without ever being overzealous.Chris Opheikens - outfitting the Trade in the bells and whistles department, this guy has enough auxilary gadgets to make that booty go clap.
Influences: Pabst "Pibby Ribb" Blue Ribbon and Miller "Swiller Low" High Life.
Sounds Like: The illegitimate result of a menage a trois between James Brown, Les Claypool, and Soulive. A lumbering behemoth, going mad with Zappa envy, being intravenously fed a cocktail of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Herbie Hancock, spitting out tunes that simultaneously graft onto eardrums like Paul McCartney and tap the toe like Prince's good stuff.
Record Label: Yes Please.
Type of Label: None
