Inch High

Kerrang! endorsed Co.Down rockers

About Me

Inch High have released 4 critically acclaimed 7 track demo's, since 2002 which have seen them come to the forefront of the Northern Irish music scene.
In July 2005 the band released their Neal Calderwood produced debut album "Look kids, its Big Ben" on their own Thumb recordings label. The album has received glowing reviews with hard rock/metal bible Kerrang! magazine awarding it a remarkable 4 out of 5 K's and gushing ,"Inch High are a revelation...wonderfully direct, soaring rock songs which nod towards the songwritng of Therapy? and Husker Du at their most succint..."
The band have cemented a reputation for high octane live performances and have supported new rock hopefuls 'The Answer' aswell as gigging the length and breadth of Ireland. A trip to London saw them turn in an impressive performance at the Windmill in Brixton as part of the "N.Ireland...the next generation" weekend.
Listen to four songs here on MySpace and if you like what you hear tell your friends and check out the band's website www.inchhigh.co.uk where the full album can be purchased.
***** INCH HIGH INCLUDED IN THE BEST UNSIGNED BANDS CATEGORY OF THE KERRANG! 2005 READERS POLL *****
2006 was a hectic year for the Inch High boys, a live review in Kerrang!, a much coveted slot on the IMRO showcase tour, a support slot with UK rock Legends The Quireboys, a place on the BelFEST lineup. The band also managed to record and release two well received singles...so far 2007 has been just as busy with the band releasing a further two singles, gigging to promote them and writing/demoing new material for and an album to be recorded later in the year...

INCH HIGH “ABOVE BOARD AND LEGAL EP” – Review by Jeff Collins, CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE - 2007
If you love rock with a swagger. Rock with real heart. Then you’ve love Inch High. Their ‘Above Board and Legal’ EP kicks of with driving bass and swirling guitars sounding like Pearl Jam would if they’d been around in the 70’s. The catchy chorus “Could I ever ask for more?” gets you singing along instantly making Ask For More a sure-fire hit single.
Death Of Me hurtles out of the speakers at 180 mile an hour with its Motorhead style riffing and head pounding rhythm section. Greg Maguire’s solo mid-way through the track is a real stand-out --- a throwback to the days of Thin Lizzy and Lemmy’s crew at their best.
Light Me up and Little Man see the band chugging delightfully through more superb riffs. Both these songs have more hooks than a convention of one-armed pirates!
The Northern Irish rockers have toured with their highly rated countrymen The Answer and on the evidence alone of the outstanding 5th track Rico, Inch High has what it takes to succeed. Rico is a wonderful song. Greg’s wonderfully sculpted guitar playing creates a beautiful framework for Paul ‘Hamish’ Kane’s voice. This is underpinned by Joe Ryan and Ryan Hood on bass and drums who anchor the song while also adding inventive flourishes every now and again.
The EP ends on a high with the 6 minute epic Shattered. A slow burner of a rocker. It simmers and shines as it steadily builds and develops. The band’s retro 70’s sound is hard hitting and a sheer joy to listen to. Inch High in name. Potential rock giants in the making!
