This page was designed to remember John Pepper who died tragically in an automobile accident on August 30th, 2001. Anyone that knew John would remember his smile, his laugh, and the way he loved life. He truly lived every moment like it was his last and always was having fun. He had a loveable and carefree personality. The purpose of this page is to share memories and funny stories of times spent with him, because it was nearly impossible to be around him and not have a story to share.......................................................
..............There is also an annual John Pepper Memorial Lacrosse Tournament & the John Pepper Wildcat Invitational that was established by the Camillus Community in honor and in memory of John who was a former West Genesee lacrosse player. The tournament helps benefit the West Genesee lacrosse program and is dedicated to the Creators gift of lacrosse, John Pepper and the enjoyment that lacrosse gave to him.........................................................
.............Last year the presence of 40 College Coaches at the boys Invitational reinforces what many coaches, participants and parents have said, "The John Pepper Wildcat Invitational is the "Premiere" lacrosse tournament for high school varsity teams to play in during the summer season". Many have touted it as an exceptional event, citing the quality of individual talent present, central proximity to all field locations and quality of teams in full-field competition as main reasons for its success. Annually featuring an invited field of 16 of the Northeast's finest programs, the Invitational has become a annual stop for collegiate coaches looking with an eye to the future. Additionally, coaches from Division 1 schools, Syracuse, Princeton, Cornell, Army, Colgate, Delaware, Air Force, Vermont, Navy, Hofstra, Fairfield, Hobart, Siena, Mt. St. Mary's, and Providence have witnessed the John Pepper Wildcat Invitational. From the Division 2 level, Bryant, Limestone and Mercyhurst have had coaches in the stands. And in Division 3, Nazareth, Washington & Lee, Ithaca, St. John Fisher, Cazenovia, Union and RPI have been in attendance..................................................
...........This summer's dates will be posted as soon as they are known. We hope everyone enjoys this page and all are welcome at the tournament. Even if you're not participating there is still plenty of food, 50/50 drawing, John Pepper T-shirts, silent auction and game-day raffles which will include a variety of lacrosse related items provided by our sponsors Nike and STX and other merchandise from gift certificates at various restaurants to electronics. The little ones watching their big brother play all day might enjoy a break at the new STX fun zone.
On-site vendors in past tournaments have included Lacrosse Unlimited, GBLax and Sports Outfit which will most likely be in attendance for this year's upcoming tournament.
