Justin Humber has never been a DJ. As soon as his interest in dance music was stirred enough that he had to be a creative party and not just a bystander, Justin took the less-beaten path: he skipped the vinyl habit and channelled all of his energy into producing.
Today, Justin runs Pacific Front Recordings with long-time cohort Davin Greenwell (aka AFK aka Ariz0na), a hot startup focused on putting out the best music from artists indigenous to North America's west coast. His productions have been charted and supported by many an international DJ, including G-Pal, Steve May, Shiloh, Luke Chable, and Sasha.
Whether it's twisted, gorgeous, banging, or all three, there is undoubtedly a certain something about a Formulate track that stands out. The ideas may change from song to song, but they're all driven by an unshakable love of all things that go bomp, click and nyerp in the night. The inspired, liberally synthetic Formulate sound does not simply fit into the progressive house genre, or any other genre, for that matter. Ask Smight, who will tell you, "you aren't quite sure what you're listening to, but you know full well that you enjoy what you hear."
