Born in Kingston ,Jamaica, she grew up in a humble environment with her mother,two younger brothers and step father.She has been singing as early as age 6 where she sang her first song and was paid fifty cents.Tanice began singing at churches ,school concerts,weddings,talent shows where she could show off her talent. From there on,she knew singing was her destiny and was determined to get her break as a professional singer.Tanice started taking her singing more seriously and entered several competitions including the Red Label Song Competition(1997).Since then she began performing a few stints at several hotels on the north coast.Although she is a trained teacher,Tanice was always ready to perform in order to gain exposure.She states that music is her way of life and will always use it to uplift the life of others.Tanice was later introduced to Sir Coxsone Dodd at Studio One where she did some recordings.Before Sir Coxsone died he released her first single "Old Hurt" which is on the Studio One's 50th anniversary label.In November 2004, she was part of an opening act for Kenny Rogers, along side Dwight Pinkney,Maxie Priest and Ernest Smith.She has also been on billings with the Marley brothers,Rita Marley,Marcia Griffiths,Capleton,Ken Boothe and others at the Studio One 50th anniversary in that same year.With the ability to sing harmony as well,she teamed up with Fifth Element Records in 2005 to sing backing vocals for Richie Spice.In that year,she has been on tours with the group including an extended tour in France.Local events included Welcome to Jamrock Show, Sting and Reggae Sumfest 2005. Her vocal style lends itself to Jazz as well and has been featured on Jazz in the Gardens at the Pegasus on several occasions in 2006.She stated that ‘"I want to be able to sing anything and not to be confined to one musical style"’Tanice has recently performed on The Air Jamaica Jazz Festival(2008) small stage where she performed her two new singles (produced by Jon Williams) "Who's Gonna Care and "For You Mother"."Who's Gonna Care" is written by her mother (Marcia Duffus) and is her true story as she felt neglected during her childhood.It is hoped that the song will serve as a reminder to parents that they should make extra effort to be around for their children.On the other hand,"For You, Mother" is written by Tanice, it expresses the love and appreciation she has for her mother and would like to dedicate it to all mothers.She is truly inspired as Marcia Griffiths, Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige, Anita Baker and Whitney Houston,Oprah,Celine Dion and Stevie Wonder."YOU ARE A GUEST IN LIFE'S HOUSE,SO BE ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR AT ALL TIMES"(I.Vanzant
