The first time I saw After It All play was like a breath of fresh air ; a musical breath of fresh, mid-90's so-cal air, among the salty stench of the typical post whatever you-call-it bands found in Provo, Utah's local music scene. AIA's music is a perfect blend of twenty-something angst, catchy songwriting, and a partial college education. So as the story goes, Dan Leach (guitar/vocals) leaves his hometown of Poway, CA, moves all over the country, and finally ends up in Utah , where he meets another like-minded musician named Dustin Rains (bass), another Southern California (Carlsbad) native. Add to the mix Utah native Shawn Kingston on the drums and this punk trio is complete. After It All's songs read like a travel log to Hell and back, including personal experiences from both Leach and Rains, but are catchy enough to convince any saint to take the trip with them. Incredibly hooky vocals with a hint of signature rasp confirm the adage of old, that you can take the dudes out of Cali , but you can never take the Cali out of the dudes. --- Chance Lewis
