About Me

Ayanna Clarke is no stranger to the stage! This Trinidadian born songstress has been performing since her kindergarten days. At the age of 5, her parents enrolled her in piano and dance lessons, cultivating and nurturing her love for music and the performing arts. It was her piano teacher who first discovered that Ayanna could sing! In later years, Ayanna discovered a new passion: songwriting. By the age of 12, Ayanna had written and performed her first original song, "The Perfect Love". During her grade school years in Trinidad , she was a semi-finalist on a televised, local talent show called "12 & Under" featured as a young concert pianist.

In her early teen years, Ayanna moved to New York and continued to be involved in music and theater arts studying voice at Fiorello H. La Guardia High School for Music, Art & The Performing Arts ( the school featured in the movie 'Fame"). She later went on to study, Jazz/Commercial Music, Audio and Theater Arts at her alma mater, Five Towns College in Dix Hills , NY . Here she had her second TV performance singing a solo with her college choir on the Maury Povich Show.

Today, Ayanna is a professional singer, songwriter and independent recording artist whose music can be described as eclectic; containing many elements of Jazz, Blues, R&B, Pop, Funk, and Soul. Her many influences: Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Roy Ayers, Earth Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, Natalie Cole, Jill Scott, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Marvin Gaye, and India Arie, just to mention a few, are infused in her unique, passionate, soul-baring songwriting style.....

Sounds Like: Well ... I sound like me of course - but you can hear a few of my influences in the mix. I love funky, jazzy neo-soul artists like Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, and badass babes like Chaka Khan - but also the pensive laid back style of Stevie Wonder’s ballads and Earth Wind & Fire’s positive vibes and lyrics. All these elements are reflected in my songwriting and performance.
