XpiR video & sax live

XpiR, video and saxophone interaction

About Me

XpiR is an original project, a meeting between a video jockey and a saxophone player. Their performance is played live.

Visual side : the VJ Brigit Ber mixes her own images: stand-alone or sequential photos, videos. Small movements of quiet poetry; cascades of images; scenes of life; visual textures… her visual world is invading or discrete, figurative or abstract, but always natural (no use of special effects).
Music side : the saxophone player François Wong comes from jazz but enlarges his instrument’s possibilities, using sound effects like wave oscillators and ring modulators, live samplers and loops.
Together, during the show, they interact in a game of opening and improvisation, reacting live. Images and music alternatively take the lead, building a sensitive and ludic space. “When we start the performance, it’s like jumping in the unknown: what will be the first image? With which sound will I react? It really works when we reach a deep listening of each other, like a passionate conversation” says François. The project exploits the flexibility of the live music and the ergonomics of the software Arkaos to deliver a new show every time. Although VJing uses technology for images and sound, XpiR approaches VJing under its interactive angle: human input and sensitivity are paramount.
