OTSO is a solo project of Otso Lähdeoja
It is a research for a genuine live-electonic performance by combining instrumental and electronic music in one seamless set.
The center of the project is an augmented guitar - a guitar with an extended digitally processed sounscape, controlled directly through the guitar itself.

Augmented Guitar wins research award
April 08: Otso Lähdeoja won the JIM-08 conference research award for his work on the augmented guitar! New research directions will be shown at the 08 New Interfaces for Musical ..NIME) conference in Italy (5-7 june). Thinkin of putting up a research-oriented blog - we'll see.
MAA & The MarsWalkers Dec. 07
A new fruitful collaboration is on it's way with the MarsWalkers - a duo of artists working with video, performance and sound. We'll be developping a new live show during the spring 2008 with live video, interaction between image, sound & the augmented guitar... and fishies. Lots of fishies!

A short video showing some technical details of the augmented guitar: Tilt sensors mapped to granulators & ring modulator, the electronic "golpe" effect achieved through triggering samples when hitting the guitar (attack detection), muting detection, a touch sensitive control surface...
