Reckless Daughter

Got Rock?

About Me

The roots of Reckless Daughter were laid in 1997 when Maribeth Swan was introduced to guitarist/keyboardist Scott Whittle. Maribeth and Scott began writing together and were soon performing as an acoustic duo, opening for local acts throughout the Boston area.

In 2000, they recruited bass, electric guitar and drums, and began taking the stage as a full band. With a diverse group of musicians grounded in rock, blues and funk, Reckless Daughter was born.

RD recorded a 4-song EP, 2000's As They Seem, which included a guest appearance by Jim Gambino (The Swinging Steaks) on Hammond B3. The CD received airplay throughout New England, and RD was invited to play several live on-air shows.

Reckless Daughter chose their first appearance at Boston HarborFest to release their second EP, the self-titled Reckless Daughter. Like As They Seem, Reckless Daughter has been extremely well-received, and is in strong rotation on radio stations throughout New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.

RD is currently working with acclaimed producer/engineer Kenny Lewis on two new tracks, Everyday and Red Flags. Keep an eye (and an ear) open for both on our MySpace page soon!
Even as we speak, RD is working on all-new material for a CD we'll release nationally in 2008.

Sounds Like: Who does RD sound like?
We sound like RD. If forced at gunpoint to chose a style, we say "straight-up rock-n-roll" or maybe "melodic rock." Once the gun is removed, all bets are off. We just call it:
Reckless-brand Rock and Roll.

What we clearly
DO NOT sound like:

* Adult contemporary
* Christian contemporary
* 80's-style glam rock
* Straight Outta Compton
* Nu-metal
* Medieval liturgical music
* Zamfir's pan pipes

And why not?
Because we are diverse musicians with diverse backgrounds and influences. And none of us like Motley Crue or Ratt. Thus, Reckless-brand rock: hard/soft, fast/slow, heavy/mellow, funk/rock, sweet/nasty, political/sexy. But always tasty.
Still got questions?
We recommend that you:

Listen...
Absorb.....
Contemplate.......
Reflect......................
Discuss.
Repeat.
Record Label: Yes please
Type of Label: None

Rock and/or Roll.....

It was super-neato to rock the Casbah with Captain Flem on Wed.  Humble SoB apologizes for tone problems after scorching the place to the ground.  At least he kept his pants on.
