The Sound Movement

Ichi Go Ichi E (One Meeting, One Chance)

About Me

Not many bands have a direct relationship to their name. The Sound Movement have covered three continents and four major cities in their short lifespan, their journeys proving a rich source of inspiration for their dreamy, dark and hypnotic melodies.

After realising they share similar influences, Andrew Day (vocals/guitar) and Kat (bass) joined creative forces and formed The Sound Movement in Melbourne, Australia. Some of the original material was a band interpretation of Andrew's electronic project Nightswimmer www.myspace.com/nightswimmerelectronicartist
Restless in familiar surroundings, they packed up and declared Tokyo, Japan their new home, moving there with their former drummer (now replaced by Graham Brown) . Amid Tokyo's bustling urban life, The Sound Movement performed live shows & finished writing and recording a number of songs, begun in Melbourne. Five of these songs appear on their debut album "Ichi Go Ichi E" (One Meeting One Chance). The kanji symbol album artwork was a gift from their Japanese friend Hisashi, and this poignant phrase has since become band's logo.
Leaving Japan, The Sound Movement were drawn to Manchester, to the roots of some of their key influences. After playing and continuing to write new material, opportunities then arose in the south and half a year later they relocated to Camden, London. London - their final destination- saw the completion of the recording of "Ichi Gi Ichi E" where it was released in the UK in August 2006 through respected UK indie label, Truck Records
The Sound Movement have headlined many of London's most respected rock venues, and performed at festivals and international showcases in the UK & Europe.
A special edition of Ichi Gi Ichi E is to be released in Australia in 2008 through PHARMACY RECORDS , featuring previously unreleased tracks, and also in Thailand thru cool indie label SmallRoom Co.
"A wonderful mix of early Bunnymen meets Ride coupled with a dash of The Church."Music Week (UK)
" Breezy, refreshing and so much substance...The Sound Movement have a sound of their own, they have a sound that's just right...You will love this rather simple, rather clever, uplifting, compelling and rather recommended album"
