Born Emilien-Xavier Deschamps, he hails from the Bay Area, originates from the French West Indies, and aims to spread his music across the land and sea. “Music is my mission” says Sky-I, a young 24yrs old musician who’s been relentlessly at work with his music for the last 5 years in the North Bay. From childhood and throughout his youth, music has been the soul inspiration for this artist and like many artists music was prominent in his family household. Today he stays true to his Creole-Caribbean heritage branding his own style of music which is a fusion of hip hop reggae and world music. His first inspiration as a youth were drawn from Hip Hop culture as well a Rock, he eventually developed a love for Reggae music that truly enabled him to express his Self more fully, physically, mentally and spiritually. This souljah brings no weak sound! His voice resonates with smooth driving harmonies spiced with a rough rugged flow. His music blends lyrics in French and English. He has been performing on stages throughout the bay area since 2003, working with artist from all walks of life establishing his self as a seriously talented performer. In winter 2005 he joined the Word of Mouth Crew out of San Francisco and completed a full album entitled “Voice of Reason”, the ensemble performed throughout the Bay Area until each member of the group parted ways to pursue their individual goals. From there Sky-I began networking heavily in his community of Santa Rosa found in the north bay of San Francisco. In order to fully understand the mechanics of the music industry he began promoting, coordinating and planning events, but also continued to perform always keeping his music on the forefront. Today Sky-I performs with his band ANANTASky, preparing to deliver the world a new sound of World Fusion which blends Reggae, with Hip Hop, Jazz, and Trance and anything filled with goodness that they can put into the mix. Is he ahead of his time or just on time? It is in fact, time that will tell the final outcome.
