Chipy D can be characterized as rebelious, cold, sentimental and even a little ironic. This young artist of 23 years born in Venezuela has been fighting to make a break in the competitive and difficult world of music, introducing a fresh and innovated style of hip hop with a fusion of tropical rhythms, acid jazz and bolero with a personal latin touch which gives his music a unique characteristic. Chipy D is not a conventional rapper he can be put into another category of new alternative music called trovadores. His lyrics and style of rap is more poetic than vulgar, however he still uses the fundamental music of hip hop. His travel experiences in Mexico, San Fransico, Los Angeles, Oakland and Miami have all influenced his style of music. After the tragedy in Venezuela in 1999, caused by heavy rainfall which killed many people and greatly damaged his city, he decided to join his family in Spain. First he went to Barcelona where he took part in music events. Later he settled in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria where he now lives, this is where he started his great musical adventure as he slowly began to write more songs he decided to take his music to the studio and recorded his first album titled Esencia, Chipy D tries to carry a message of sincerity and happiness to the public. Recorded and mixed by Sir Drakon a great MC and producer in Gran Canaria. The album also features many different artists from Spain and Cuba. It was edited in Venezuela by Balconzone Records by the producer Massimo Pastorelli. In Spain he took part in a freestyle competition in Tenerife in 2001 where he came second place. He has taken part in events in Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzorate, with artists such as Tinguaro, Mala Rodriguez, Jota Mayuskula, Mucho Muchacho, DJ Jekey (sub champion of the world), DJ Zefive and Kultama. Artists such as Vico C have been given copies of his music by his music company in Venezuela. There are current negotiations for Chipy D to participate in Latin hip hop festivals in Miami and Australia, as well as events in Venezuela. Also Zona Bruta, a hip hop music company in Madrid have also been approached in order to distribute the album throughout Spain (although nothing has been confirmed to date). He is an artist who tries to participate in as many projects as possible in order to maximise his musical talent and to share his music with the general public.
