Maureen (McDonough) Carr was born and raised in the wilds of New Jersey. Her musical debut came at the same sister's invitation to play at her church's folk mass one Sunday. Soon, it became her mission to sneak current popular music into the folk mass repertoire, with songs like Teach Your Children on Fathers Day or Let it Be on Mothers Day. Growing up in the 60s & 70s provided more than enough inspiration to fit any sermon, with favorite artists like Cat Stevens, Loudon Wainwright III, Carole King, the Beatles, Carly Simon, and Paul Simon. Following high school, Maureen attended East Stroudsburg State College, where she met her future bass player and husband, Ben Carr. After moving to the Reading, Pennsylvania area, Maureen played with the bandsSideCar and Present Company, performing contemporary country, folk, and folk-rock covers, as well as Maureen's originals.Maureen began writing and recording for children in 2002, and her CD , Alukaleigh Lutz & Other Songs for Kids, was recommended by Parents Choice in 2003.Maureen next put her energies into recording her long-awaited "grown-up" CD. Her CD, Stones Unturned was released in April, 2005. The fourteen originals on the album also showcase the talents of Rod DeGeorge, Travis Wetzel, Omer Godinet, Ben Carr, and daughter Meghan Carr.
