aero. (aeroWithADot) is All-day Everyday Rocking On period. As he continuously calls it, he’s “on the grind all the time.”
Born and bred around parts of the Pacific, aero. developed a distinct sense of style which comes from a collection of cultures. A United States military brat since birth, he has isle-hopped Japan, Hawaii, Guam, California and the Philippines.
Music has always been the rhythm of aero.’s life with his influences ranging from The Beatles to Bob Marley. At an early age, he secretly snuck into his older sister’s room while she was out to listen to her cassette tapes. The Beastie Boys and Run DMC were his first favorites. Wu-Tang Clan and Souls of Mischief would later lure aero. onto the microphone. As an adolescent, Hip-Hop was almost everywhere he went.
aero.’s passion for painting poetic pictures is as important as his priorities for God, his family and his friends. He maintains a meticulous balance between life and music by simply taking real life and making real music out of it. His everyday experiences, good or bad, are expressed from an emcee’s point of view. Although lyrically limitless, aero. refrains from rapping about the routine rhetoric: drugs, sex and violence. He may make use of metaphors using a negative notion that appear here and there, but as far as promoting them goes---it’s an absolute no-no. Instead, his compositions come complete with topics that everyone can feel comfortable with. If aero.’s cuts were to be categorized, he claims “Folk music” would best describe his work which he dedicates to people of all walks of life. “Certainly, there will be more than a few joints that will jump out at the audience,” he adds on.
In Hawaii, aero. collaborated with Creed Chameleon (SIQ Records) whom, back then, was a part of his crew called D2DOS (Dynamic Duo + Disciples of Soul). In 1997, they finished as flamboyant finalists for “Road To Fame”, an island-wide talent search, and became the first ever Hip-Hop act to participate in the competition. In Guam, he worked with RoMZ Tha ILLAMNTL (SikMind Muzik Inc.) under the precision point production of Corespawn (Majah Flavah Productions). In 1999, they released an underground CD with songs that reached the request lines of the best, blazin’ local R&B and Hip-Hop radio station, Power 98 FM.
Since 2001, aero. has been putting it down in the Philippines for his beloved province, Bacolod City. While attending the University of St. La Salle, he passed as a part-time disc jockey for Jamie 102.3 FM on “Choklit Soul”. His vibrant voice had become so familiar that even rival radio station, Music Now 90.3 FM, took him in as a talent for the metro’s pioneer Hip-Hop party, “The Beat Goes Live”. Shortly after, aero. served a series of hosting stints with the most notable gigs held at North Bar. There was “Choklit Soul Live” with DJ Kid on Fridays, and when summer sank in, there was “Beach Ball” on Wednesdays with reinforcement from DJ Rex. “Fly Fridays” soon took over Choklit Soul Live and it opened up the opportunity to work with the world-renowned DJ Shortkut (Invisibl Skratch Piklz) who flew in for a Philippine tour. Other big bashes were the “Friendster Grand Eyeball” and “Elements” parties. In 2004, aero. took the title of The Vibe/FlavaStreet “Free2Rhyme” Tour Rap Battle Champion and was later denied permission in ever entering the event again. Before graduating, he was handed full-time slots on-air and handled “A.M.s With aero.” and his very own Saturday special show, “PhatSat” for the City of Smiles Hip-Hop heads and R&B residents. The competition hated the fact that more and more listeners loved the piece as each week progressed. When aero. had his Business Management degree diploma in hand, he knew he should get back into the music. He would hustle independently though. Since June 30, 2006, he has released four albums on his own entitled aero. EP, The Bacolod City Bandit Mixtape, The City Of Smiles Slinger Mixtape and The Bacolod City Bandit Mixtape 2. aero. made up his mind to push his radio personality aside to promote his music on other local airwaves that initially opposed his proposals. He wedged his way in M.O.R. 101.5 FM and Killerbee 106.3 FM, and in an instant, conquered their countdowns.
Moving on to Manila, aero. comes as original as his signature, self-styled shirts. Letting his name be known, throwing up the 3rd World and bringing Bacolod City on his back, he stands proud like a braggadocios B-Boy. His single “In My City” is currently getting airplay in Manila on Wave 89.1 FM and Magic 89.9 FM. Cebu, Davao, Zamboanga and other parts of the archipelago are giving aero. generous exposure as well. “IndiePlug” on the Viva Prime channel has also featured him on several weekly episodes which have gained him a bigger buzz nationally. "Indi Film Maker" on the XPressCom channel shot a local video for "In My City" to give the song a visual for listeners. Now working with artists from 6000 GOONZ (Mobbstarr, Gloc-9, Stick Figgaz), Turbulence Productions (NimbusNine, God's Will, Hotnixx), Locked Down Entertainment (ILL-J, Monique, Peoples Future) and The BeatMathics (Nathan J, Artstrong, Dash) and many more musical talents, he is coming with music never yet heard of.
At the moment, aero.’s on a steady schedule of performing and recording. He has bombarded The Basement at “The Community Pt. 2” and wreaked havoc at Rock Candy at “Wrap Up”. Besides putting together his brand new solo project, he has gathered a good amount of guest appearances for other artists’ albums. aero. is featured on Mobbstarr’s new “Time, Space, Rhythm, Starrs” full-length, B-Roc’s “Tippin’ The Scales” mixtape and Mike Swift’s “To The Billboard” international compilation. Soon he will be found on records by D-Coy, Pikaso and 2Tay. By the middle of 2008, AMP (aero. + Marquiss + PhD) will be dropping a collaborative effort that is already being anticipated. Military Brats (aero. + JedLi) is currently putting the final touches to their EP as well for a release this year. Another street collection near completion is "The Piaya & Pana-ad Festival Mixtape". His latest accomplishments are rocking the crowd at the 2007 Fete de la Musique Festival, brandishing another victory at the 2007 Sick Wid It Nights “Back To Basics” MC Freestyle Competition and producing “The Community Comes To Masskara” event in Bacolod City which featured acts such as Nathan J, D-Coy, Artstrong, NimbusNine and God’s Will which brought in hundreds and hundreds of Hip-Hop heads. Still unsigned, aero. possesses the potential of an artist off of a major label.
Fusing the accent of the underground and the appeal of the mainstream, aero. will be the busiest, buzz-worthy breakthrough artist in due time. “It’s hard work and God’s work,” he explains. His music will speak for itself. His music will bring back the essence of Hip-Hop. His music will come across to cross ALL boundaries.
