A small chat with then relatively unknown producer Chrizo in 2003 jump started the career of PhD. They created what would turn out to be a classic joint, “Blazin’ Microphonesâ€, and caught the attention of Turbulence Productions’ head, B-Roc, at a competition. After recording “Hymn of Loveâ€, a song about how hip-hop should be violence-free and brotherhood using a sick “Asin†sample, B-Roc signed PhD and the song’s producer, Traumatik, onto his label in 2004. He then appeared in “B-Sides†and once again collaborated with Chrizo, who lent his Midas’ Touch for the track, “Superb Wit Wordsâ€. 2007 marked the release of a limited-edition 10-track CD, “Knowledge Bornâ€. He is also featured on the “5 Stars Mixtapeâ€, released in 2005, as well as the 2008 releases “Tippin’ The Scales†and “Thinking Man’s Hiphopâ€, collaborating with 7 Shots of Wisdom emcee Mario for the latter. He is also serving as Turbulence Productions A&R and oversees the releases of the label.
Upcoming releases for his group, A.M.P., include the March 2009 scheduled "Aquariuss / A.M.P. Boulevard" Mixtape and the December 2009 scheduled A.M.P. LP "Gold Barz".
