About Me

Hip hop fans desperate for an intelligent, positive, and versatile female MC need to look no further than Rita J, a long-time member of the world-famous All Natural, Inc. family. Rita’s highly-anticipated debut solo album "Artist Workshop" has a release date of October ’07 in Japan and March ’08 in the states. In the meantime, you can find her passionate and intellectual style on the "All Natural Inc. Anthology" compilation, or on albums from Mr. Greenweedz and Daily Plannet, and also on releases from Family Tree, of which she is a member. Rita has been sought to rhyme on tracks from an impressive collection of producers including DJ Spinna, Black Spade, and Jungle Brothers.Rita J cites influences such as the Roots, MC Lyte, Nas, and Black Moon, but her greatest influence will always be her father, who introduced her to a diverse collection of music including hip-hop, soul, disco, and rock. He also fostered in her a sense of self-knowledge and a love for the arts, which serve as the cornerstones for her work.Rita J grew up in a southern suburb of Chicago and was showcasing her diverse talents early, singing and dancing around the house. She moved on to performaces in countless talent shows and recitals where she drew from her formal training in dance. She also developed talents for acting, writing, photography, and poetry, and continues these pursuits today. In 2001, Rita graduated from Southern Illinois University with a B.A. in Mass Communications and Media Arts. In 2002, she became an official member of the All Natural, Inc. family when she joined Family Tree. She now resides in Atlanta, but returns to Chicago for recording sessions and live appearances.Rita J stays sharp and focused by challenging herself daily, whether in the studio, on-stage, or alone with a notebook or camera. In a hip-hop world where female MCs often put skin ahead of artistry, Rita J is a breath of fresh air, and is more than ready to join the ranks of elite female MCs. Rita J. is also involved heavily in fashion, her fashion sesnsibilities blossomed as she moved to Miami, Florida in 2005 and she is currently working as a model in Atlanta! Watch Out World!!
